Woah! You are looking fit, Dani! Good going!
For my little report today, I'm down another .5 lb. (mine seems to go in halves...) and the faux size 8 (today's size 8 is like two sizes bigger than it used to be...) capri pants I bought two weeks ago because I just couldn't stand wearing tight pants anymore are now loose in the waist/hip. I think I can go back to my 6's now, but I like the feeling of my pants not being tight so I think I'll wear the baggy capris a little longer...

I love loose clothes. Partly because it's a reminder that the weight is coming off and partly because it's nice not to worry about VPLs or jiggly butt (which for dance is okay but for work is questionable) or other such nuisances.
Dreaming of size 6 days.....prolly never again, but that's not my intent anyway. I will be sooooooo happy with just 14 more pounds off...not a huge order and hey! I just realized I'm at my halfway point. Oh crap - I just looked at my ticker. I am not at my half way point yet. 2 more pounds for that. dammit.

I have to share a little happy story! Last night, I was packing my gig bag for a gig tonight and I pulled out a costume I have not worn in 6 weeks - I altered it before I wore it then because it was already too big. I decided to try it on before I packed it up, just in case and it was a good thing I did. The belt slid down to the butt-crack region - if I had given it a good push, it would have fallen off completely!!! I was so happy! And then of course, I scrambled around to find one that did fit and I have discovered that I only have 5 that I absolutely know fit. I will be doing some trying on and altering of a couple more to get me through my gigs until the last 10 pounds is gone.
Thank goodness I tried it on first - I would have been safety pinning it like crazy and probably panicking at the same time that they would not hold!!!

You look like a 6 in that photo so I think we may have a bit of a heighth differential, or it also depends on whose 6s you buy...
My 9-year old son's latest commentary upon hearing me telling my husband my weight is creeping slowly down: (he's only trying to cheer me on because he knows it matters to me, he reminds me constantly that he thinks I look fine right now.)
"Yeah mom, it does look like your butt has shrunk! But I would say you might want to keep wearing black for a little bit longer." ROTFLMAO
Good going, Damiena! Time to sew in some new hooks, huh?

Okay, so I take it he's not concerned with an increase in allowance?

Well I have to give him credit for being much more diplomatic than his girl friend, whose mom told me that her daughter said to her "Mom, your butt is gigantic!"
To their little eyes, anything bigger than a teenage butt looks "big". I'm okay with that. I just want my usual butt back and I'll be fine

Yay!
Damiena,
I think you're going to win the contest. Particularly as I'm stuck at the same number for nearly 3 weeks now! gah!
PS - So are you selling any costumes from chubbier days?

LOL!! I just might have to sell some pretties when I am done - I am down to 145 and I want to get to 135!

Damiena- you go girl. I wish I would have read this post last night!
I didnt think about checking costumes. And I mean why would I? I havent lost a SINGLE pound. I thought Id lost a little, but I must have gone down in size, because whilst performing last night, my Sharifwear salsa pants were sliding RIGHT DOWN MY ASS!
I looked down and there were my flesh colored panties showing for all the world to see. Luckily, I caught it right away, make a joke a bout loosing weight, and sent some thanks up that I was perfroming in front of a small crowd of people who know and love me ;)
I should have known something was going to happen when I got dressed for the evening and the new size 12 Tommy Hillfiger pants that I bought 2 weeks ago needed a belt or they werent going to stay on. Dammit! Those were expensive!!!!! I dont care if I become a size 2, Im still gonna wear em!
Working out 5 days a week (including sprints- egads!) is doing me wonders. I just hope I can maintain when work starts back again in the fall....
But I'm still not ready to try on my old size 10 jeans yet. I simply cannot cope if they are still too tight.

Damiena I'm shooting for the same goal weight and I'm a little ahead of you right now but I have a feeling you're gonna beat me there! I'm not really the competitive type, but this little "friendly competition" might just get me stepping a little faster on my nightly power walk.....

Hello
I'm not really joining in the proper competition, but i just got some photos of myself for the first time in a while that didnt make me cringe and this seemed like the thread to post them on.
Me, December 2006 post PhD thesis writing (sitting on arse days on end) and domestic bliss related weight gain:
Me last week after 6 months of pain finally paying off a bit:
Although everything else has slimmed my upper arms seem to have got fatter?! Despite weights at gym.
I'd ideally like to loose a little more, not because I need it, but because I know I'll never stay at the minimum i achieve so i want to build in a safety margin.

Zafirah,
You look great - nice going.
I think safety margins are a must. Who does stay at their perfect weight? It's impossible!

Zafirah, that's inspiring - thanks for posting! Your "before" photo looks like someone who would look perfectly fine in street clothes, but as I keep telling my husband, looking okay as an average person on the street doesn't translate so well into snug, two-piece bedlah under harsh lights! That's about where I am: I just want to lose the extra pudge so that I don't have to run from the lighting...LOL Your "after" photo looks great

Zafirah - you look fab! I don't think your arms looked larger, just a lot more toned!
Off to the gym now! The elliptical is calling my name!!!

Zafirah, THAT is inspiring. You've toned up marvelously, great to know it can happen.
My scale finally moved again yesterday, I'm off to the gym so I can look like Zafirah!

Harsh lights
Lilla,
The harsh lighting is a killer and the fact is that most BD events have bad flourescent or overhead lights that show every extra lump and bump - unless you're on an IAMED or such stage with good lighting.
And it's not just on those of us with a little extra padding - I've seen skinny people who aren't toned or tanned or otherwise healthy (and age is a factor here as well) with major ripples and uneven skin. Of course in street clothes or in kind lighting they look marvelous.
It's brutal. Makes a person wanna stay in body stockings and dresses!

You know, a little OT but I actually love wearing body stockings for gp performances for the reason that it's so much nicer in a body tipping situation to have people easily tucking money between two pieces of fabric than having them pinching your hips, whether they are kids, grandmas or whatever. The tricky part is getting them comfortably attached to the bottom of the bra without slippage, getting stuck in it after the performance...lol...and also they can really heat you up during the summer. I'm debating this very morning, as a matter of fact, whether to wear one for my full-daylight party performance this afternoon.....
