Shedding my snakeskin! I GIVE UP!
I am so frustrated! I knew when I bought my yummy snakeskin print cossie that it was a smite generously sized for me. I sewed the gap on the outsides of the center jewels and that easily brought it in close to 2" without compromising the design. MUCH better fit.....but I lost a bit of weight and started to get uncomfortable (enough to shift while dancing, KWIM?)
I had some old workout shorts with a foldover waist that I put underneath to fill up some room and pinned the skirt to them. Not bad, but I've lost a bit more.
Now I have this GAP:
the sides of the skirt are very densely beaded over the hip area, so it really can't be taken in there
There MUST BE some obvious fix that I'm missing, any suggestions???

sew a 2 inch strip of elastic inside, first anchoring the ends firmly, then stretch the elastic, so that you are pulling in the costume, secure the other end, the elastic will gap away from the fabricwith a cross over stitch so that the threads don't go through the elastic, just over it like so: XXXXXXXX, this will pull in the costume so that it hugs you better.
And what are you doing to lose weight? I need some tips :-)

I'll try again with the elastic, maybe I had it in the wrong spot--it was pucker-y and weird looking.
I've been cutting back on meals out, paying better attention to my portions and taking taekwondo classes three times a week--it does a body good!

Elastic will pucker it since you have that much room to make up for I'm actually stumped on this one.
Wait....here's a solution, send it to me...my arse will fill it out properly . Well, I may actually stretch it out. Sorry.

after you sew in the elastic in the XXXXX gusset, give it a while (weeks?) to relax and de-pucker. I had a bedlah belt that I had to elasticise so it would cup my bum. it was atrociously puckery at first but eventually it broke in and lay smooth. good luck! gorgeous costume!

Ooo Kim. What does the bra look like? I love it!
Is the belt area softer or stiff? Also are those appliques in the front and back or are they sewn directly on? If they are appliques you may be able to loosen the outer ones up and slide some fabric in under them.

Here's a full shot (oy, notice the difference in how the skirt fit!) The belt area is soft--the beadwork is sewn on and the fabric is really too thin to support it. I've reinforced it with featherlite boning sewn vertically, now I'm experimenting with extra elastic across the front in addition to the two pieces I sewed on the right hip last night. It's getting there but is requiring a lot of infrastructure!

Well, if you decide it is a lost cause, you can bring it to Cairo carnival with you and I know it'll find a very nice new home....

*sigh* Everything I did helped, but it wasn't enough. I wore it to a photo shoot last night and it wasn't even comfortable to pose in
I'm going to put it on Swap Meet today and if it doesn't sell I'll bring it along to Cairo Carnivale...I'm so bummed!!!

Chew no longer, here they are!
Skirt 36" long, high hip 34", full hip 38"-39" w/no problem!
Bra band 32" (stretches to 33")--cups are shown w/stuffed B, easily fits a C, D with max cleavage!
