Sweat proof/resistant makeup?

I though I had waterproof eyeliner and such, but that was not enough this weekend. Makeup ran into my eyes during the demo I was part of with the other women in my class....ouch ouch ouch.

It was outdoors, very humid, and in the mid-high 80's. Please recommend products that may foil sweat, or at least resist it a bit in that sort of weather.

I don't think I can afford to run out and get the best stage makeup just yet, but it wills till be good to know what is out there. SO I am looking for low cost and higher cost options.

THanks all.

Get a tube of Benefit SheLaq. It's a makeup sealant that works extremely well. It will seal your eye makeup, so you can even use non-waterproof products.

After being on an eternal quest to find waterproof makeup, I am told by the experts that really there is no such thing as completely waterproof makeup. The secret, like Antimony says, is finding a good primer. Right now I'm using MAC's Prep & Prime and that stuff is amazing. I use it on my eyes, everywhere, and my makeup does not move. Right now I am dancing 4 shows a night, all close together and I marvel at how my makeup holds up with this stuff - i don't even need to touch it up.... my hair on the other hand is a frikkin disaster ..... Prep & Prime for Hair anyone???

I love Mac's waterproof Liquidline eyeliner - they are not kidding when they say waterproof. I swear by it - it even resists rubbing! I have Maybelline waterproof mascara, and my Urban Decay mascaara also works quite well.

I have used SheLaq - it's working OK for me, but everything tends to get messed up when I put it on, I tend to avoid it. (I am not very neat with makeup, so it may well be my clumsiness.)

I used the SheLac for the first time this weekend for an outdoor venue. It was GREAT! It was hot and humid here as well and nothing ran at all.

Good to know....I also have a big problem NOT touching my face, and hence rubbing off makeup. Sweat and humidity was definitely the culprit this time. But rub resistant is also good for me.

THanks to all who have given ideas so far. Looks like I need to go searching for some primer and/or shelaq type items. I may have to go to *shudder* the mall.

I really do have to recommend MAC - yet again. It's not as expensive as you think. And you save money because you are not buying tons of makeup that doesn't end up working.
I second the MAC prep and prime line, especially the eye primer...
their liquid liner DOES NOT budge!
I think it all runs around $15 or such...it lasts long and you will not waste money on stuff that does not work.
edited to add: think of makeup as part of your costuming costs, you need to invest in makeup that works, makeup is a big part of how you look in your performance!

I couldn't agree more with Maria. MAC makeup is excellent stuff and it will last you a while. The sheer number of eyeshadow colors is amazing!!! I have been slowly replacing my makeup with MAC items and I love every last one of them. Now I have to add the primer to my list! LOL!

In general, I found that in the long run, more expensive makeup tends to be cheaper - e.g. my liquid eyeliner. I bought it, love it, and USE it. Most bargain products are a waste of money because I don't use them. And, almost all of my makeup is high-end and as much as possible is the long-wear/waterproof variety, for which I am happy to pay extra.

sweat-proof eyeliner

I have gone through many "waterproof" eyeliners and have finally found one that does not run, rub-off or smear. Even after three 20 minute restaurant sets in the summer, I don't get any running under my eyes. It is by Stilla and is called Smudge Pot. You paint the eyeliner on with a brush. I bought mine at Sephora.com Any eye makeup remover or baby oil takes it off.

Good luck!

a little goes a long way with the primer. if you use too much, your makeup will slide....(which I found out)
so, just a very light touch on the primer - luv it!
and, you should get a pro card, i've already paid for mine with the savings...

I love this topic because I have tried a ton of goodies given I tend to glow when I dance. My fave mascaras are Loud Lash by MAC and Yves St. Laurent's mascara. The loud lash works a bit too good...hard to get it off. YSL is a close second and no need to buy the waterproof...the regular is just as good! Crazy length!!

Liners, I like MAC and MAC eyeshadows. If you don't mind spending a bit more, YSL has a few eye shadow compacts that are fabulous and are just as good quality as MAC. The set has 4 shades so it's pretty good value too. have tried SheLaq and it made my eyes feel a bit sticky but it works.

Lipsticks...hmm...loving LipFusion but they will come off on veils and are expensive. Very plumping and nice shades though. I think Revlon and Maybelline both make great colourstay lipsticks and pretty cheap. Also, I like Benefit's Benetint on my lips but try it at the counter because it doesn't suit everyone. i don't like this stain on my cheeks but somehow on my lips it looks good? And it doesn't come off on your veils etc. You can buy a purse sized version of this stain pretty cheap from Benefit.

Blush...gosh...MAC or YSL. I like YSL because there's has a mirror on one end and it's a harder puff type applicator. Great for adjusting your makeup backstage and the peach shade looks nice on eyes too so it's a great item to bring along to gigs for quick touch ups. Has just a touch of shimmer.

I agree, good quality hurts when you pay but it lasts!! Check for good all purpose shades and invest in a couple. You won't go back! Even dirt broke I saved my dosh for MAC!!

Oh, and it gets crazy hot here...and 95% humidity. So these products are tested and true!! Hope this helps! I love makeup!!

I use "photo finish" by smashbox as a primer. good even for my very sensitive skin.
and MAC paint as a primer on my eyes.

it seems to stop my make-up from melting under stage lights or in the heat.

have you tried a make-up sealer ? there is Final seal by BenNye and also Model in a bottle face setting spray.
