How do you...
Ok, so it is 4 o'clock in the morning and I have been up for two hours. Tomorrow, or I guess tonight now, I have a student recital and my head is spinning. One thing that is on my brain is that my halter straps on my costume slip up my neck when and therefore make my bra slip down (and the girls start peeking out) when I am doing some forward bend/flip my head upside down moves in some choreographies. Any ideas on how to remedy that. The straps are as tight as I can comfortably make them for when I am standing up straight. Double stick tape? Glue? Staples? ACK!!!!! Help!!

Last time I wore a halter strap, it was set up with ties. So I had my husband tie my straps, so I wouldn't be moving.
I ran out of double sided tape, but luckily everything stayed where it was supposed to. But I have heard good things about tape.

Double stick tape is good. Toupe tape is great -- call your local beauty supply store and ask if they have it. I've used first aid tape in a pinch -- rolled it into little circles, sticky on the outside, so it's double sided and I've stuck everything from headbands to armbands to shoulderstraps in place with that.
If the choreo allows, can you rest one hand in the center of your bosom (I pledge allegiance) during the forward flops? That helps a lot, and just looks a little extra-demure-classy if you can do it without appearing to tense up or panic.

is the band around your chest tight enough? I set mine very tight and there is no movement of the bra. There's no space to allow the bra to slip down! You shouldn't need tape to keep it in place, in my opinion.
If not, think about adding straps connecting the halter to the back of the bra - sort of a combination of a regular bra and a halter. You can either use the accessories that came with the costume or make your own if you're crafty. This will also add support if you need more. Or, criss-cross the straps in the back if you have enough length. Something is wrong with the fit of the bra.

Ooh, good point, Spanishdoll!
I had the thought, too that something's wrong with the fit, but if the show's tonight there isn't much time for adjustments. If it's a simple matter of moving a hook to tighten the chest band, though, that should be do-able (and well worth doing!)
The chest band shouldn't move up OR down. You need to be able to lift your arms over your head, etc without the bra budging at ALL.

I agree, you shouldn't need sticky tape, but it sounds like it's a little late to be undoing straps and re-sewing, so that may be the best temporary answer. I does sound like something's wrong with the fit of the bra. It could be to do with the length of the strap around the back, where the halter straps are attached to the bra cup, or where (or if) the straps that attach to the side of the bra cup and the back strap are located, or a combination of any or all. Generally, what keeps the top of the bra cups snug against your skin is a combo of where the halter straps attach to the cup and how secure the top side of the cup is ... pulling the top edge of the cup tighter across your chest.

I always use double sided (ordinary Scotch brand) tape just for the emotional secuirty, be careful though not to stick your hair to your costume. I also use tape to stick tank top straps to my bra straps. It's a miracle product

How firm are the cups of the costume? Is the chest band staying put, and just the top of the cups is collapsing?
If the chest band is moving when you dance, then it is just too loose. You should be able to breathe, of course, but you should not be able to take a chest-expanding deep breath. While you're in costume, think about breathing "down" into the diaphraghm, not "out".

Thanks Everyone!! I ended up tightening the halter strap again-a little too tight and then held with pins- and everything stayed put! The show went great and the girls stayed in (maybe they had stage fright-LOL!)
