Ordering from Hanan
Does anyone know if one can order from Hanan directly from here? If so, how, does she have a webstie with her designs, reliablility, turn around time, cost, etc.
Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks Rania,
I always notice you have some really cute Hanan costumes and they are much more reasonably priced than Eman or Amira. Will she take a custom order from the US?

That site gives me some serious sensory overload.
So what was the deal with Hanan? Did she used to be a designer for Amira or Eman? I remember the conversation somewhere here on bhuz, but I can't remember exactly.

Hanan used to be a designer for Amira. Call her Jody and ask her. I'm sure she'll say, "Yes, we make for you..." :0)

Hanan used to be the head seamstress for Amira; hence the reason why her costumes and bead work look similar to Pharaonics.

Well, I have to decide if prefer to order a Hanan (cheaper) or an Eman ( my fave, but never any available of the rack in my size). I have no business ordering anything, really. But Dee Dee Ahmed is going to Egypt soon and said she could have it for me by mid-July. What to do? I just ordered another Pharonics ( sold the one here that I got last week). I have had a very hard tome with costumes lately. Everything I buy is not right, so I sell it right away. Thank my lucky stars there is bhuz and ebay to mitigate r my costume mistakes.

She charges different prices for different situations. When my friends and I were in Egypt... she charged my friends $300 for full costumes and $150 for Bra and Belts. I don't know how much she charges for people buy costumes while you're not in Egypt. A lot of times the costumer designers will give you a better deal because they know the airplane ticket was expensive, etc...

My experience with ordering overseas is the first time you order from them overseas, they don't know who you are and they don't know if you will be a repeat customer, so they tend to charge high the first time around. You can try and bargain/negotiate with her. For example, the first costume I ordered from Eman was totally expensive and I was too shy to bargain with her. The first time I ordered from Hallah, I just took her price at face value without asking for a discount or negotiating. The first time I ordered from Sahar I was bold enough to ask for a discount! Now that I am a repeat customer for all these designers, they give me better prices.
Ask for a price and see what she says. Then you come back and try and negotiate with her. Bargaining is part of the Egyptian culture, so if her price is too high for you, most likely she will give you a discount if you come back with a counter-price. For example, let's say she wants to charge $350, come back and say $300. Remind her that you have to pay for the international shipping ($50-$175 depending on who you use) and you will have to pay your bank a wire fee for them to do the wire transfer. But don't low ball the price just for the sake of doing it. Do it if its cost prohibitive to you. Sometimes the designers know this, so they intentionally inflate their prices when they quote you. I think Rania's price of about $300 sounds right especially considering that Eman's costumes can start at $400 and Amira's is at exactly $400. I would assume Hanan would be less than both Eman and Amira.
Also, I like you pic. Is that the costume you bought from Leila long time ago?

Yes I spoke with Amira and she is a firm $400 which is actually fine for me as theres so much detail. Eman (god love her) knows that her designs are hot right now and she quotes me from 350 - 450, depending on the costume. Yeah its totaly cultural thing bartering (I think its in mine to) going t o just stick with eman and pharonics, I just love love...love excellent quality, I have expensive taste!! These costumes always are so dynamics and sexy for me on stage.
I spoke to sahar okasha what an attitude she was so rude,I would rather keep my money then give her a ridulous amount for a costume of 900- 700 usd I think that crazy.
Hey what is Hallas costumes like?? I had one in a greek godess look and I was really shocked at how poorly made it was?? maybe that was just a one off?? I have seen other costumes of hers and they look great, but didnt see them close up. She has original designs which is great . I had her website ... but I cant find it now. Okay thanks !!!! Kaia xxx :):)

Her web site is www.hallahmoustafa.com. You cannot view her costume gallery. You have to e-mail her to get the password. Her sister, Marie, who lives in Washington state, will e-mail you within one to two days to give you the password. I have her password and I love staring at the gorgeous costumes, but she is really protective about it. That's why I am saying that you need to contact Marie to get it. The e-mail is on the site. I think they want to monitor whose viewing the costume gallery, that's why. If you want to look at some of Hallah's designs, go www.nilegroup.net and look at the photo gallery of Fatima. Hallah makes her costumes. Also, look at Liza Laziza's costumes as those are designed by Hallah.

Gympie: Oh that's right: you cannot bargain with Amira. Her price is firm at $400.00 per costume and she only accepts EUROS and US dollars. I don't think Amira's costumes are expensive, I don't think Eman's are either. I think if you were to buy those costumes in the USA they would cost around $1,500! Yes, I would just stick with Eman and Amira. Sorry about Sahar being rude, you are not the first person to say this. She has always been nice to me. Don't know why. I guess you just have to do what works for you. I think Hallah's costumes are fantastic! I don't know what her quality was like a long time ago, but now she uses many crystals and glass and I really love the designs, the fabrics and the usage of her stones and crystals. She is very high quality and I would recommend her as much as I would the other designers. Just curious-can you post the Greek goddess costume or e-mail me a pic, I'd like to see it out of curiousity? I have two of Hallah's designs and several on order. I met with her in March and she showed me her new designs and they are great. If you go to Sonia's web site (I don't know the address off the top of my head, just do a search for Sonia, belly dance superstars and it will come up), she has four costumes by Hallah and they are all posted in glorious detail!!! She has a gold two piece on the cover page of her site; she has a two piece yellow assuit with turquoise scarabs. In a silly picture, Sonia is wearing the skirt and Jillina is wearing the bra! She also has a red one with paisley appliques that has been featured on the BDSS album covers and posters and she has a two piece black one with giant lotus mofits. I can't believe I know all her Hallah's by heart-I really am a costume junkie!

Dear Kaia:
Thanks for the explanation. Yes, I really love her originality also. Would you ever order from her again? Just curious...
