Really? Ew. That would suck...no, I'm really only doing about 64-76 oz per day...thats about as much as I can stand!
I just started sipping some green tea as well. :)
Thanks for the encouragement! :) Woo hoo! I'm excited!

Well, I did join weight watchers after 2 kids, I just couldn't drop the excess weight, so I have lost 7 pounds and Easter weekend was a bit rough but I am bound and determined (I think) to lose the remaining 15 pounds. It is hard though, I am one to gain weight just thinking about chips and chocolate. But seeing all your posts has really inspired me again. Thanks and it is nice to know that I am not alone.

I'm pretty pleased with how I've been doing lately. I've been following the Sonoma diet abouyt 90% of the time this week. There are a couple things I could add but for me right now that's really good. Hopefully next week I'll feel up to exercising and dancing again. Next week wil be tough though when I go back to work to eat they way I have been.
Congrats to those who have been losing!!! That's great!

I am jumping back on this bandwagon from the original thread. My weight loss has been slow but noticable since just before Xmas. I am down to 140 from 147.
I am counting calories and tracking my intake on Fitday. It's the only "diet" for me since I can't give up bread, or wine, or tasty food, or sugar in my coffee but have weaned myself down to 1 tsp per cup. This way, I don't really have to give up anything, just watch *how much* I eat.
I fill up on veggies. I have steamed cauliflower, broccoli, carrots or salad as a side dish instead of rice or pasta. If I really want cake, I have a little piece.
I think my weight loss has been slow precisely because I allow myself to go over my goal a bit fairly often without worrying too much. If my basal metabolic rate is about 2400 Calories per day, my goal is 1500 but if I eat 1800 or even 2000 - I don't despair, I just try to have a lower cal day tomorrow.
I think cutting out random snacking on carbs, plus most of the rice and pasta I used to eat has made a big difference. Just being aware of what is going into my mouth has REALLY opened my eyes. I used to think I ate so healthy and couldn't figure out why I kept gaining weight...ummmm maybe it was that loaf of sourbread with butter and cheese?

That's me, too. And I have to admit, as much as I *thought* I knew about which foods I should be eating & how much, I find a learn a little more each day.
And I'm constantly shocked when I look up the calorie content of restaurant & fast foods, even 'healthy' things like salads & veggie sandwiches!

I think it's worse when you KNOW what is in the food you are eating, because then you feel even less in control of the whole situation. PMS time is the worst for me. I know that a whole bag of salt and pepper chips with beer are not helping matters, but I WANT them.

Whoever said that you shouldn't weigh yourself everyday was RIGHT!
After my exciting "woo hoo, I lost 2.2 pounds" moment yesterday, I'm right back up to where I started today. I know I didn't eat THAT badly yesterday.
I think I'll go back to just weighing in once a week.
So here's my question: Iron. How do you get enough in *your* diet? I'm borderline anemic, and I know that I'm not getting enough, but I really don't know what I can eat that is healthy to increase my iron levels. Heck, I don't know what I can eat that is not healthy. Iron supplements mess with my digestive system, so I try not to take them...
Anyway, I'm off to start my water drinking. I'm starting later today...its too hard having to pee and not being able to leave your desk until your co-worker comes in.
I'm also going to join a gym. I've decided that I need to work out!!! :)

I feel you. On Monday, I finally reached one short term goal of losing another 10 lb. On Thursday, I had apparently gained 6 lbs. of it back despite the fact that my eating and workout habits didn't change. I'm pretty sure it's wrong because there's no way I could've lost 10 lbs. in six weeks then put 6 of it back in three days.

Yasmin, fitday will generate nutritional reports that show you the amounts of major vitamins and minerals you are eating.
I never have a problem getting enough iron, but then I have to avoid starches, which means I have to fill up on protein and veggies.
Yesterday I ate almost twice the iron as the USRDA, and most of it came from the sechwan string beans with fried tofu from the chinese takeout. Not that that is lo-cal or anything, but you don't have to eat steak 3X per day to get your iron.
What has iron?
lean red meat (sirloin is good and goes on sale alot)
(white meats to a lesser degree)
tofu
beans (dried or green)
spinach
kale
other dark green vegetables
shrimp and other seafoods
eggs (buy range fed or omega + eggs for higher omega-3's)
Yum!

Down five pounds this week eating tons of veggies, lean meats, fat-free yogurt, almonds and plenty of water. (I found these wasabi and lime & chili flavored almonds - they're low in salt and so yummy). No doubt the weight is mostly water weight, but I have not been starving myself by any means and am eating TONS of veggies. It'll slow down, I'm sure... but I'm good with that. It's motivating to start with such a great loss. Essentially, I'm following the South Beach diet in the sense of good versus bad carbs, but am really trying to focus more on health versus following a specific diet and plan to add fruits in a week.
Urbana, you and I are on the same "schedule"! Very cool...

How are you ladies losing so much weight in one week?
I can't be that hardcore--I'm fine with a pound a week--the slower I lose it, the more slowly I gain it back. I've gained back a bit since I hit my goal in May '05, but only about 5lbs or so and it fluctuates. That 5lbs drives me nuts because I'm not a big person, so 5lbs means the difference between things fitting or not.

I think what it boils down to for me is that if left to my own devices, I could practically live off bread and pasta.
You're doing well to lose it slowly - that's where the long-term results are to be had. My weight loss this week was probably mostly retained water loss. Past experience tells me I'll lose just as much in the next week, and then it'll start to taper off - then those are the results that'll stick. If I stopped now, the 5lbs I lost would probably come back within a few days.
Oh, the joys!

mmmm...bread...
If I was given brie, bread, and wine on demand, I would weigh 500 lbs. I know I would have no self control.

I've decided I need to redouble my efforts. :) My fiance, who decided to lose some weight too, has already completely trimmed his gut and started to develop a six pack. He's been at it for two weeks, and we gained nearly an equal amount of weight over the last year. If I didn't love him, I'd hate him. ;)
So now I guess I have to actually work out. Blech. I hate gyms.

I'm redoubling too
I start a Flamenco class today (I was inspired by Tinah). It's not just for weight loss, I think it will help me with my "dead" bellydance arms and a little attitude for BD, but I think it's way more cardio than BD is.
I'm going back to regular weekly BD classes this week as well. I won't mention YET AGAIN how sick I am of being fat. Why is it so hard!

Remember the cabbage soup diet? I had a bumper crop of cabbage in my veggie garden so just made a huge kettle full of cabbage soup (cabbage, of course, low sodium chicken broth, onions, carrots, a few new potatoes) Made so much of the stuff I may be involuntarily on the cabbage soup diet this week trying to get rid of it!

Lucy-
Don't be too hard on yourself, unfortunately, men lose fat faster than women.

Oh yeah, I know. It's just annoying because he's still eating pizza and drinking beer, and his "workout" is ridiculously light (takes all of 10 minutes). Meanwhile, I've lost like two pounds. Grr! :D
