Hi Lauren - this might appeal to your drugstore product side (and I am a drugstore makeup girl myself!) -
I am currently in lurve with Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 in Light Tint. It's a great moisturizer and tinted enough that I feel it's between a tint and a foundation.
Someone else mentioned Mary Kay and that's the foundation that I use for performance too - the color matches my skin perfectly and it covers but doesn't look like stage makeup.
Good luck, I hate buying millions of products that never work. This thread is giving me tons of ideas.

I just wanted to say I am amazed at the quality of the Everyday Minerals line. Not only did my samples arrive in my mailbox just 2 days after I ordered but the foundations, concealer and blush are the best I've used as far as mineral make up goes. My neighbor who I see almost everyday noticed the first day I used it. She couldnt figure out what it was, just said that my face was glowing. Thanks again antimony for mentioning Everyday Minerals, otherwise I probably would have never even thought to use their stuff.

Why you crazy whippersnappers! Back in MY day, we shopped for makeup at Walgreen's. A lipstick was $2, foundation was $3.50. It turned our faces orange and streaked, but we were HAPPY to have it, I tell you.
Lauren - you are sooo NOT that old!

As for the foundation...I just got some of Smashbox's foundation primer, and it works really well. Maybe you could add that under your regular foundation--it sort of fills in the lines.

Boots
Thanks to all the UK bhuzzers talking about the Boots Age-minimizing line, I have become a total Boots convert - skin care, makeup and shampoo. It all make my skin so soft to the touch and all of it smells sooooooo yummy. I'm especially glad it's at Target of course!

Something I cannot understand about these mineral foundations. They're like a powder, right? Don't they get cakey? My skin is quite dry and very matte and I would be afraid something like that would just make it look like chalk, and settle into lines.
Thoughts?

Do you have ULTA stores? I like their illuminating foundation--I'm getting a bit beaten down looking and I like this foundation ($12, I think). I just spent $85 at ULTA yesterday due to my obsession with Clinique's Happy fragrance.

I don't understand how it works, but it does. Once it's buffed into my skin I can barely see it. I get much less cakeyness with mineral makeup than liquid foundation. I have oily skin, and liquid foundation tends to go orange and slide when I get...ummm....dewey. Mineral makeup stays much better for me.

How can you buy the stuff? I saw that the online store is not open yet-and missed the chance to check it out when someone was vending for them here last month. Now I'm kicking myself that I missed that opportunity because after looking at it on my teacher's eyelids that other week, I can't believe how beautiful it looks under the lights.

Ding Dong
Avon Calling
Just recently I ordered some Avon concealer and it is really very good - I no longer use the YSL Touche Eclat, this seems to be better at actually concealing, rather than just reflecting light. Big fat tube for dirt cheap, use sparingly, for best results apply with an artists brush to the under eye shadows.
I use it on my models in photo shoots and it photographs really well too. I suspect Avon's new foundations will be pretty good and the price will be within most peoples' reach.

I'm a Bare Escentuals Mineral Power Makeup Fan :)
But whenever I perform and, to make sure that my eye makeup and lip color in particular stay put, I use Benefit's She Laq, a product they tout as a "Magical Makeup Sealer". It really does a great job!
Also, I was just at the Aziza workshop in Norfolk, Virginia, last weekend and I discovered Eye Kandy. Wow! I love this stuff! Thanks, Shadiyah!!
