Pharaonics go up in price?
I just heard from one of my friends who orders from Amira directly that they are going up in price from $400 to $450. While this doesn't seem like much, would it bring vendor's prices up as well?

If vendors such as Dahlal and Audrena (who are pretty much the only vendors for Pharaonics costumes) want to keep making the same amount of profit, then yes, it would cause them to drive their prices up. It depends on how much Amira charges them for costumes. The $450 may affect dancers who order directly from Amira, but Amira may not have changed her price with Dahlal and Audrena. Also, keep in mind, that when dancers purchase costumes at the festival, they tend to be more pricey then buying costumes when its not the festival.

I just ordered in April from her. Payed 400 USD plus 50 USD for shipping. Maybe this is where those two prices come from?

Phone, Fax, mail...
I phoned her, told her what I want and sent a mail as well.
it's phone: 0020-1221 39971
amiraelkattan at link dot net
She speaks english very well so no problem discussing with her changes on a model or anything like that.

Can you order one costume directly, or do you have to order a bunch (minimum order)?

I ordered only one.
Amira told me the 50 USD shipping is added on every costume as she ships them separated.

A little update on ordering from Pharaonics directly:
I wanted to order but couldn't get any response to my mails so I phoned Amira directly.
She told me it's Ramadan at the moment, so the boutique is closed and when the boutique opens again (which will be 20th october) the costumes will be 500USD and for shipping add another 50USD per costume.
She told me it is because she hold the prices a long time but materials got more expensive and the dollar dropped a bit in value.
So prices gone up 2 times this year 8(

It is still cheaper (incl. shipping) than ordering from Dahlal, even with their "special deal" on in-stock Pharaonics at the moment. So its a good deal! And I bet the waiting time is much less....

Dahlal has announced that prices are increasing as well, but hasn't said by how much.

Dahlal new price for Pharaonic is $825.
I am not aware we can order direct. Where do we view the design? I mean, how do I tell her what I want?

That was Dahlal's price before any discounts, etc. So my assumption is that it's going to be higher, if not I'll be thrilled :-)

When you order directly from Amira, how do you pay her, I mean how do you send money. Does she take Visa?

Dahlal sale
So that's why Dahlal is having a sale- to get rid of in-stock items before the price increase...

When I ordered from Amira I had to send cash with a friend who was visiting her. I don't think she deals with credit cards which is why Dahlal and the like have some advantages after all credit card means insurance. We would still have pay customs of course on top of postage wether you order from US or Egypt. For you in the US ordering from Dahlal, they must have built taxes into the price.
Wether you get it any faster ordering yourself I am not sure. I would think the proirity goes to dancers visting Amira in Cairo then personal direct telephone or fax maybe.
My dress was perfect, I discussed with her what I wanted and she told me of a new material so I went for that but a friend's got a completely different dress despite faxing the Dahlal photo!
I ordered an Eman through Faridance last dec and it arrived 2 months later ....bit differnt to Dahlal, I am waiting for an Amira dress since June . I have been informed it's been posted on 10th...but we still have posties on strike in Liverpool and guess where it will come through and where HM Customs is? Fingers crossed they are using courier!

You can order directly from Amira but lately she's been overwhelmed with single costume orders that she's starting to turn people away. Her money is in bulk costume orders. She's also trying to protect her exclusive vendors because it doesn't make sense to undercut them.
It sucks but the US dollar isn't really holding it's value and the cost of materials is going up.
Have any of the other costumers' prices gone up?
