Anyone painted Pedinis?
I just got a new pair of tan/peach Pedini sandals -- the teaching sandals AKA Grecian sandals.
I love them!
I have some gold shoe paint(spray), which worked very nicely on a pair of ballroom shoes. I'd love to paint my Pedinis, but the upper is very soft, almost like a ballet slipper, and I'm afraid it would be a cracked-up mess.
My friend suggested shoe polish, but can you really get a metallic gold with polish?
Has anyone ever painted their Pedinis? What did you use? How did it work out?

Lauren, why don't you call a local shoe repair shop to ask about it. They might even carry a product that will do the job. I've been thinking about doing the same thing with Pedinis. They are so comfortable.

They certainly used to have shoe paint, back in the 80s because I remember painting my boring shoes in wild colours back then.
Check out http://www.shannonkringen.com/ for her hand painted shoes (KringWEAR). Somewhere on that site there's a video of her talking about and demonstrating her shoe painting, but I can't check it fully while I'm bhuzzing at work!

If the tops are soft like a ballet shoe, try calling a shop that carries ballet shoes and ask what to paint shoes with.

Now, don't sue me if the idea messes up your shoes because I have no idea if it'd work without having tried it - but how about a metallic fabric paint? I bought some for the kids to decorate T-shirts, and you can get little tubes or tubs for painting on the stuff and it's washable. I don't know how well it'd stick to the leather, but since it's made for fabric, it's pliable.
Good idea, though! I've been eyeballing those shoes for a while, but just don't like the look of them for performances, as is. (Though, you wouldn't see them much with a full chiffon skirt).

Bea, I *have* shoe paint! Just not sure if it'll work on such pliable leather.
Fabric paint is a thought.
There's a shoe repair shop in the same center with my studio, I'll take them there if I can't find anyone who's done it. But I thought sure someone mentioned painting Pedinis once, maybe on Old Bhuz. I don't want to pay the shop if I can use the paint that's sitting here!

That'll teach me to read posts *properly* before attempting to reply...

LOL! It's OK, Bea, we ALL do it.
Have you ever seen one of those threads where we all just talk & talk and everyone is completely misunderstanding each others' posts?

Male ballet dancers spray paint their slippers all the time, so that shouldn't be a worry. If the paint starts wearing off, just paint 'em again!

I would think leather paint would work better than "shoe" paint, maybe less likely to crack. But I've never tried it myself either...
