Recovering from surgery question

I just found out that in October I am going to have to have surgery to correct a prolapsed vaginal wall and blatter repositioning. (3 BIG babies will cause this) I am basically going to be recovering as if I had a baby. How long did those of you who danced pregnant wait after birth before dancing again??

By the way, I am a little aggrevated with the timing of this as I will miss Rakassah East & Jim Boz's workshop... But the only time my DR was available was in October or Thanksgiving week!

hi, wow...I go in to see the doc for something very similar this Fri. I danced all through my second pregnancy, and waited about 4 weeks to start stretchy warm-ups and 6 weeks until going to class.

good luck with the surgery...if you don't mind i'd like to hear details about what the procedure entails...

Sorry it has taken so long to post. (Internet problems!) Procedure details:
both procedures together take about 3 hours and an overnight stay. First the dr. will use a mesh compound to build a sling and relocate my blatter back to its original position. Then, he will use the same mesh to create a sort of tube to place on the internal side of my vaginal way and reattach the muscles to it. I am lucky to live in an area with excellent specialists and used my husband's connections to get an appointment with a dr. who specializes in gyn surgery in younger (meaning less than 60) patients! Go luck and keep me posted on your appointment.

I really, really recommend this book:

http://www.healfaster.com/

"Prepare For Surgery, Heal Faster" by Peggy Huddleston. Either the book or the tape, really. I thought it might be bogus, but decided to try it anyway when I had to have surgery (laproscopy, admittedly not major surgery, but I was still freaked out about it). I was so surprised to find that it really helped. Good luck, guys! Heal well.

so, it's a cystocele...beth, is that what you're surgery is for? i think i want to be really sure i'm done having kids before i get the surgery, but some times it's so damn uncomfortable!!

if you're reading this and don't have this problem, please remember to do your Kegels!!

I am definately done having kids so the time is right for me to do this. Two different doctors are concerned of a complete vaginal and blatter prolapse then collapse if this isn't done within a year. Cystocele? I'm not sure what that is but my issue is the muscular prolapsing from stretching during pregnancy & delivery.

Huzzah!!! Glad you can go. Not sure what my class schedule will be yet, so I don't know which workshops I can sign up for yet. Are the Jewels planning on dancing at this one? Not sure if my class going to, but i know we need to decide SOON.
