This website has some good nutritional information, very scholarly also. She throws out 30/30/40 protein:fats:carbs as a good ratio for goals of fat loss and muscle building/maintenance.

Sedonia, thank you for posting that link. You're right, really great info, serious, scholarly but entertaining.

Her rants are making me laugh out loud. This one http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/displayarticle.php?aid=92
REALLY hit my funnybone hard. WARNING: bad words ahead if you click on this link.

I think it's good that everyone shares what they know, because there is not one method that works for everyone.
I have a friend that I used to weigh the same with, and we were the same height. Totally differently proportioned though. We lost the same amount of weight in the same amount of time, with totally different ways. Well, we both cut out certain things: she ate lot of junk food, so for her to give up cookies and chips and fast food resulted in 8-10 lbs weight loss. I was eating pretty healthy, the only thing I had to watch is my fat intake, so I cut out salad dressing and lunch meat high in fat. That resulted in 8-10 lbs of weight loss. Our own methods would not have sorked for the other person.

Another thing I realized: in my expeerience, if I want to be "bad" and eat icecream, cake, etc, it is better to eat as much as I want 1 night, rather than eating a small amount 3-4 times/week. The latter would result in a steady weight gain of maybe 3-4 lbs that could stay on, but if I have a one-night-affair with sweets, the next day I reduce the calories a little more and nothing bad happened.
Of course, no scienteific data to back this up, only my experience.

That calculator is interesting. It says that even on days when I do no additional activities outside of work, that I still expend almost 2500 calories a day. On days when I have additional activities I apparently use 3332! I think my diet may be failing because I am not getting enough calories. I was trying to eat between 1500 and 1800. This explains why I am so tired all the time!

im 5'2 as well as though it says 2000 cal, i have eat 1200-1300 to loose weight and 1500 to maintain anything over and i gain weight. It also has to do with your body type and your matabloism. If you are hungry eat. listen to your body. I eat 6 small meals a day and that keeps me satisfied. The other thing to remember is you can eat 1500 cal of cake but it isnt going to do the same thing as 1500 of natural healthy food. Loosing weight and having a fantastic body is 80% diet and 20% work out. Im training for a figure competition, it has turned my body in to a fantastic one almost over night. It is hard work but if you stick with it you will look fantastic. If anyone whats to know exactally how to achieve a body like this (look at link below) let me know i can help.....

*waves hand* me!

You look great! I'd like to kick my fitness regime up a notch. 5% bf lost in 2 months is good, but I'd like to do more.
