Anybody ordered from Isis and Horus?

Hi Ladies,
I'm thinking of bingeing on costume supplies and wondered if anyone had dealt with these folks. Just trying to protect myself and be certain I get what I expect.

Any reviews?

Thanks

I've bought from them. Customer service was good -- I don't remember the man's name now, it's been a couple of years ago, but I remember that he called me on the phone a couple of times just to be sure that we were all perfectly clear on the order, the shipping arrangements, etc. I give them an A for customer service.

I bought several paillette dresses, which were really inexpensive, with belled sleeves and lots of lovely beadwork around the necklines & edges. The threads between the paillettes were long on the inside, so you had to be careful putting the dresses on. But overall, they were SO much nicer than I would have expected for the price.

I also bought some caftans, decent quality but a strange product, who wants a see-through coverup?

I also got fringe with paillettes. It was the nicest fringe I've ever bought, much thicker, shinier and more durable than others I've had.

And I got a beaded, sequinned bra/belt base. I had to rework the bra -- took out the center piece, turned the cups slightly & moved the center piece down. And shifted the straps. Hmmm, I may also have darted the belt, don't remember. But I've been wearing it for years now, very durable, certainly worth the $80 I think I paid.

It's been years ago -- there wasn't a website then, I ordered from a little photocopied booklet they sent me. They've added a TON of merchandise since then & of course I haven't seen most of that.

All in all I had a very positive experience & felt like I got good quality for the money.

Well, I've tried TWICE to buy something from them, I followed all the procedures for registering on-line because you can't shop from their catalogue without doing that and they say they'll send you confirmation. They never did and I gave up, finally. And they had stuff I was interested in!

I tried from two SEPARATE e-mail accounts so I know it's not the spam filter.

I ordered my first professional level costume from them in January, it arrived in about 8 weeks. Overall, I am very happy and would definitely order from them again. The fit was very good! The guy's name is Kamal Moustafa and the customer service was good. The color lycra I chose was "dark green" on the website, and is much brighter than I was expecting, but I do like it. And the beading was different & much more elaborate and fancy than I was expecting! Plus they gave me two sets of gauntlets (long and short) and the headband--I was only expecting one set. This turned out to be a very good thing because I have decided to alter the dress style from a neck halter strap to attaching the straps to the back of the dress and I will use the extra pair of gaunlets to extend the straps. Reason I am doing this is because when I moved the hooks on the neck strap to make it secure enough to hold up the front of the dress, it pulls on the back of my neck and also, the back of the dress (which is just pure stretchy lycra) sinks down during performance (two performances in this costume so far). But the dress looks great on me and the beadwork and fringe is really great, well worth the cost, better than expected. And from what I understand this level of alteration (while advanced for my skills) is considered not that big a deal by more experienced dancers. My only other small complaint is that the rhinestones have been falling out of their little settings but they are easy enough to replace. And I wasn't expecting any rhinestones in the first place!

Me too. They actually wrote back to sort of "interrogate" me, and ask WHY I wanted to buy merchandise from them..WHERE was my store? etc. Which I thought was odd. I answered all their questions and never heard back from them again.

Regards
Priscilla

Hmmm. That's really odd!

I wonder if they wanted to know where the store was because they maybe have an agreement with their resellers not to sell the same merchandise in that area? Since they are wholesalers.

I know it's a problem for some vendors when their suppliers start offering the same merchandise at wholesale prices to the public.

Sounds like better communication is in order, though!
