Feeling nostalgic..

I recently visited German dancer Reyhan's website www.reyhan.de after seeing her dancing on Youtube(nice! very nice) and, as you do, looked at her costumes on her photogallery and what a beauuuutifuuuul collection and she acknowledges the designers which is great though you could have guessed those glorious Madam Abla's and Madam Hekmat's. Will we ever see their likes? I do like my Eman dress and my Amira dress but I gaze lovingly at the Abla I just obtained here in the UK and wonder if someday those 80s and 90s (?) fashions will be revisted?
Anyone feel those waves of admiration for a glorious age of costuming.

Fashions come and go, and that style will come back, I am sure. I think the 70's coin stuff is coming back already, re:tribaret stuff......

The sahar's couldn't go away fast enough for my opinion!

I'm not an Abla fan, but I love Madame Hekmet's stuff. Particularly, I love this one -

just stunning, really, whimsical and elegant and feminine.

Anyone know the designer referred to as "Fa. Purpur, Linda Bildat"?

I collect (and wear) a vintage costumes. I keep my eyes pealed on e0bay adn when I hear via the grape vine that an older dancer is retirering. Especially dancers I know in the midwest. . .

Wow! I've got a long-term sewing project going on that looks a lot like that! It's wonderful to have a beautiful photo for inspiration.

I love Madame Abla's costumes- they're so regal. I'm so glad I have one.

I am an unabashed Madame Abla fan and own several. Always make me feel like a queen when I wear them. Seeing these lovely costume photos is wonderful!

One of my favorite things about Mdm Abla - she really knew how to build a good, round, sturdy bra. You feel safe in her bras. :) And her designs always seemed to salute the Golden era, in some way or another. I like that.
