belly dance embroidery designs?

Does anyone know where (store, online, etc) I can find machine embroidery designs of belly dancing, belly dancers, or anything else belly dance themed? Or even middle eastern looking designs? I wanted to decorate some stuff I use for belly dancing but haven't found any that I really like.

Thanks!

Machine Embroidery

http://www.oriental-embroidery.com/ is the one I can recall offhand. Tomorrow I will pull the links from my work computer and post the others for you.

There are plenty of paisleys out there, a few arabic and turkish (sorta) motifs that I have found.

I did find some pics of dancers in the style of Persian miniatures:

http://cross-stitch-patterns.us/cros...allery-82.html

Try searching for for Indian designs under "world cultures" on alot of the sites too.

I am in the process of trying to learn my embroidery software to make my own patterns, as nothing out there seems to meed my needs ;-)

Thanks for those links, Basina! Those are exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. And if you come up with some good belly dance specific ones on your own, let me know if you decide to put them up for sale

Cindy, your hand embroidery is great--I wish I had that kind of patience. And your blog is super, too--love the name!

Someone posted a link to their Ebay stuff and she had cute hand towels that were embroidered, t-shirts and sweaters too.

Sublime Stitching

For those interested in hand embroidery, I love www.SublimeStitching.com. She doesn't have belly dance patterns yet but she does take suggestions! Please email her (info@sublimestitching.com) if you would like her to come up with a pattern kit. In her FAQ's, she states, "I gladly consider suggestions for upcoming pattern lines. I love having customers tell me what designs they'd like to see." Her fairy in "Gnomes & Fairies" and the "Mermaids" patterns hint at what she could do.

Re: belly dance embroidery designs?

Did you take the one question survey she sent out the other day? "Bellydance" wasn't on the list, but I put it in the "other" box. I'm still hopeful!

Re: belly dance embroidery designs?

Did you get the message with the survey link? Otherwise, email her with the bellydance request (if you are interested, of course). She says on her FAQ's that she wants requests. SUBLIME STITCHING - CONTACT

Thanks so much for sharing these, ladies! My mom taught me to embroider many many years ago and these patterns are so fun.

Re: belly dance embroidery designs?

I guess I could come up with a dancer based on the fairy in her "Gnomes & Fairies" or one of the mermaids. I'm thinking since there's a "Roller Derby" pattern, a bellydance pattern could happen some day.

Doesn't the "Mod Fashion" girl on the left remind you a little of Doris Day?

Re: belly dance embroidery designs?

does anyone do free hand machine embroidery? Okay maybe I'm not calling it the right thing, but I have been wanting to learn how to do it on my sewing machine. It does embroidery, but just small designs and I wanted to free hand on the machine for big designs....
just curious!
:)

Re: belly dance embroidery designs?

Are you talking about a Free Motion machine? Alot of the quilting machines on the market, as well as the higher end sewing/embroidery combo machines, have a free motion feature to allow you to do free-hand embroidery.

Re: belly dance embroidery designs?

My new machine is a combo embroidery/sewing machine, and does have the feature, but I've not yet had the opportunity to test it out (heh, the embroidery function does much better on its own than I could ever do). I am sure I will eventually play with it, but I need more than 24 hours in the day ;-)

You might want to go to forums for machine quilters or those with home embroidery/sewing machines and get some info there. If you've started researching machines already and know which ones you are interested in, its even better because you could goto the various forums for them and maybe get some idea as to which specific machine will best suit you.

Good luck!
