I really want to get into making my own costumes. I love to sew, but I dont know where to start. I was just wondering where do you all get your inspirations for costumes, other dancers, ideas from beads, your dreams? Just curious. Thought it would make an interesting topic
I can get inspired by a lot of things. Browsing through fabric and beads, finding a piece of jewelry with a design that could be used for a costume, costumes in a theatre play or movies.
There are always three or four design ideas floating around in my head. I chew on them for a few months, make some drawings. When I have a general idea I start. When I feel like the design needs something else, I stop. I permanently have three or four half finished costume projects lying around.
