I find that seeing a nutritionist has kept me on the straight and narrow. And the amazing thing is that after a couple of months of eating really healthily I just can't eat sweet things any more - they just taste too sugary. And the other day I had a McDonalds and I nearly threw up - it tasted awful!!! And I used to love McDonalds.

That is excellent advice, thank you!
I actually have done this and at least ended up with a good line up of vitamins, without which I think Hubs and I would be in a heap of trouble by now.
It's the will power at this point. I know pretty much what to do I just keep putting it off in favour of convenience (oh bad bad me). A heap of medication that I'm trying to balance out right now is messing with me a bit further but I'm really about ready to get things in gear. Tired of feeling floppy, ya know

I read a book that said the reason we store fat around our middle more easily after 40 is because the fat cells in the abdominal area produce oestrogen (or store it or something). So as our oestrogen level drops, the fat cells multiply to help keep our levels up.
So it's nature being kind to us. But nature clearly doesn't understand about the tyranny of a bedlah!

I'm very excited - I just got back from my second weight watchers meeting and lost 5.2 pounds.
Before I went last week, I was really feeling desperate to do something - I'd spent the summer stressed out over a relationship and had an unhappy surprise the first time I weighed myself....
My 29th birthday is 9 weeks from today - I'm hoping to hit my goal by then :)

Well, I got back from my vacation in August and realized that I had started a great habit of walking at least a mile or more every day! I have kept up with it pretty well since then - hitting the gym or my neighborhood every day. I prefer the gym as I can't "mosey" as easily on a treadmill. Heh.
I even had a free consultation with a trainer who showed me a great weights/cardio combo workout that I have started doing once a week just to change things up.
Last week, on the last day of August, I printed out a 4 week walking plan from Prevention.com and started it on Monday. I really like how it's not the same thing every day and that it wants you to incorporate weights into the mix (not while walking but in place of a walking workout once a week.)
My dietary changes are coming along. I have started to follow a diabetic diet. It is a balanced way of eating and I feel very good on it so far.
I don't own a scale for many reasons, but I have noticed inches coming off now. I plan on measuring tonight and again at the end of the 4 week program.
Good luck to us all - you are all a wonderful inspiration to me!

Awww, thank you Michelle. That actually made me feel better. Maybe they're just terribly unflattering photos after all.
I'm editing the video from the show -- love my skinnycam (videocamera that distorts everything taller/narrower), why couldn't the photographer have one of THOSE???

So, the deep fried coke was good!! My hubs and I shared one and we couldn't finish it, but it was nifty, but a little much.

Lauren. When I first saw you at the workshop, I thought my god she looks great and I was green with envy at your weight loss.
Dont feel too bad about the photos: I think the lighting wasnt very flattering. NONE of my body shots came out either. Thats 97 photos. I wonder how Tipsuda and Stephanie fared.

Lauren
I promise you, when I saw the videos I truly thought 'why is Lauren so worried about losing weight' believe me, you looked really lovely and slim and tall and lovely in those videos. (and I swear, I NEVER say things like this without meaning them - I just wouldn't say anything at all if I didn't believe it)
It will be unflattering pics that are the problem - not your body. Don't forget, when people have promo shots done they're sucking in their tums like crazy and getting themselves into the most flattering poses. Look at the 'Britney got fat' type candid shots, the make the skinniest model look awful just because they're taken without careful posing (not to mention touching up)
I wish I could see the pics so I could tell you the truth about them - I can't believe for one moment that the lovely woman on the videos has suddenly got so fat.

Part of me wants to e-mail at least one of these pics to someone, just so you can see what I'm talking about, but I just won't risk having them 'out there' in the world where they could circulate. *shudder*
So, yesterday I managed to stay below my target for the first time in weeks -- yeay! C'mon, backfat, it's go time!!!

Lauren, you are going to be fine. You know that if you have any extra flesh on your back our tight bedlah bras are going to make it poop out a bit. Look at all the pics of really, really thin dancers who have a fold of skin that suddenly appears when moving.
Share the pics with us!

Wish that's all this was. Thanks for your support, everyone, I'm going to put the pictures away and forget about them. Maybe in a few weeks/months I'll be able to pull them out and crop out a useful head shot -- probably not, the lighting is so bad. Maybe I'll try to get my money back.
I actually had a little breakdown over this last night, I don't think I can talk about it any more.

Yep. I'm on the "Lauren is hot" bandwagon, too
Your pix look fab. We're all our own worst critics.

Lauren, I saw you live at your studio recital in several costumes, and including up close in various stages of dress in the dressing room, and you looked HOT!
Just send the photos back or delete them or burn them, and continue on being the tall blonde bombshell that you are ;-)

 thank you guys.
I really wasn't fishing for compliments, but it does help to know that these really are just the worst pics imaginable and I might not actually look like that.
Honestly, every time I even think about these pics I start crying. Not sobbing, but huge quantities of tears running down my face and I can't stop. It happened this morning on my way to teach a yoga class! And my face doesn't hide crying well..
Maybe burning the disk is a good idea. And of course, I need to spend some quality time with myself figuring out what's going on with me here.

~I got a diet tip/advice/idea thingy for all ya'll! What I do to watch and control what I eat is I write everything I eat down in a food journal. I also write a entry about how I feel about what I eat and the exercise I did, It has helped me alot cause trust me I don't dare eat what I fear to write down in it! To all who try it I hopes it helps ya'll just as much!~

The sad thing is that we do already do that, diet and exercise and food journals, oh my!
My advice to you: Dont ever let yourself go. Resist all the bad habits you will be surrounded by in college. Eat clean now....save yourself....save yourself!
Ok, I got a bit carried away in the end there, but seriously....start young...while you still can!
