Out of respect I am bidding on a new pair on ebay. I just can't go on without them.

Speaking of dead eyelashes...is there a way to salvage our lashes "of war" hahah. Maybe soaking them in cheap vodka or something...?

Caroline, you have my sympathy. Perhaps you'd like to say a few words about the deceased?
Then maybe I'd learn which brand/model inspired such deep loyalty, and roughly how long/how many wearings they lasted through?

I personally never met the deceased. As they had such an impact on my fellow bhuzzers I can't help but feel your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sadness. (offers a tissue).

Ooooh, so sorry. Surely only bellydancers and drag queens would understand the pain.

Alas, poor Lashes. I knew them, Horatio.
I second Lauren's suggestion of a breif eulogy, so that we might all benefit from the highs and lows of your relationship with the dearly departed, and learn about our own relationship in the process.

You have my deepest condolences in this difficult time.
Perhaps we should take up a collection in order to put a plaque dedicated to the deceased in your make up box, Lest We Forget.

We met on the internet. I know it's not too conventional. People like to do that sort of thing in person. It was after a post on bhuz as I'd been searching for a number of years, practically all of my adult performing life, for the right pair. I'd bought some terrible ones. The packet promised all sort of things, but they just didn't deliver. I felt terrible, casting them off, one by one - in a matter of weeks some of them. Then there was the expense of getting all dressed up, hanging around in boots, trying the see if any of them caught my eye. Anyhow, I think it was Afra who posted, she I'm sorry, it's just so painful. She mentioned try "Ruby & Millie" they are great, they have a kit that comes with both the demi and the full catterpillars in. So, I went out to Boots one last time, and after another wasted trip, I started searching the internet. It was all exitement at my house after I had placed a bit on the kit, and you could have scraped me off the ceiling when I heard I'd "won" (I was a little disappointed to hear I still had to pay, despite having "won"). Anyhow, any relationship has teething trouble at the start, and I decided to overlook it. It was then that our relationship started to blossom. I can't carry on just now ... I will post more after I've had time to compose myself

Wrap them around a pencil, wait three days, and they might resurrect themselves.

Thanks but I can't. As in a fit of rage, as I was trying to pull off a large unsightly clump of glue, they broke in two (oh the guilt).

OMG - I've just read this thread - Caroline I am so sorry to hear of your loss! I feel your pain because whilst I was in New York the same thing happened to me and I felt such a traitor going into Sephora to buy replacements the same day. I mean how could I do such a thing after they'd given their lives in my service??? Sadly it was a performance emergency but I did not feel good about it.
I couldn't bear to leave them behind in America so they were very carefully wrapped and prepared for repatriation to the UK, where they were quietly laid to rest. I am now preparing for the painful process of making my way into Boots to seek out proper R&M replacements as sadly the ones bought in NYC were not up to the job.
Sometimes it's hard being a dancer!

Takes Caroline to one side so that we can share a box of tissues and comfort each other!

Caroline, I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I just wish and know you'll find another who will treat you as well or even better. There IS another pair waiting for you to find them; all you have to do is be open and willing to let another pair into your heart.

My NEW eyelashes arrived yesterday! I am so exited ! Well, and I'm a bit annoyed. When I compare the new ones to the old ones, well it seems that the old ones had been going downhill fast. One clump of glue here, a bit mishapen there. But it was a gradual process, so I didn't notice how... well...rubbish they were getting. This new pair is just wonderful (did I mention they are also Ruby and Millie ilash kit ones). <walks off into sunset with new lashes on>
