Exercise unleashes a bounce bras can't handle

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20725154/

thought this might be an interesting article that many of us can relate to

apparently some study was done saying that current bras are TOTALLY inadequate, and that breasts can move up and down up to 8 inches (!) and in figure-8 patterns, leading to pain, etc.

also some info on how they're trying to make new, high-tech bras for exercise that combat this

kinda crazy...

Obviously, she has never worn a good bedlah! Strap & Pack as Tina says!

But, this does echo what we spoke about on the Bra making thread several weeks ago. Stanard bras are simply not made to stand up to heavy bouncing. Or in our case, shimmeying! ;-)

Bounce yer boobies!

"You know girls, it's great to live in a democracy today, where freedom is everywhere. But girls, we often take this freedom for granted: freedom of speech, freedom of thought, and freedom of action. But you know gals, just because a bunch of men signed that Declaration Of Independence in 1776, doesn't mean that freedom was for men alone. Oh no, you take Tom Jefferson, Ben Franklin, John Hancock - he's a helluva guy for you right there! All these men had wives. They probably had a few broads on the side too. These women wanted freedom just as much as their men did. But gals, I wonder, do we? I think it's time that we women thought about it a bit. Hell, I think it's time we did something about it. So come on, fellow females of the 20th century! Be glad that you're an American! Proclaim your freedom! Stand at attention! Pledge Allegiance! And...

Bounce your boobies, get into the swing.
Bounce your boobies, the swing is everything.
Makes no difference if they're big or small,
As long as you - ooh! - give 'em your all.

Bounce your boobies.
Come on, honey, bounce 'em up and down.
Bounce your boobies.
Come on, bounce your boobies, honey. Come on.

Loosen the bra that binds you!
Take it off if you feel like it!
Come on, bounce your boobies.
Here we go. Doesn't that feel good?
Bounce your boobies.

You know girls, men aren't the only people in the world today that have something to give, but it sure looks like it sometimes. Just look around you - men stick out all over the place. Big fat cigars. Big fat stomachs. And just where they should stick out - phhbtt! - where is it?!

Yes, girls, we know what we've got, and we know what they're worth. So come on, gals, let's get into the swing of things. Give your boobies some freedom! All together now!

Bounce your boobies, let 'em rock 'n' roll.
Nudge your knockers, keep 'em hot and so.
Just admit it, gals, it sure feels great
To feel them swingin', ooh, titilate!

Bounce your boobies.
Come on, bounce 'em up and down, honey.
Bounce your boobies.
There, look at that gal, she's goin' at it.
Bounce your boobies.
Oh, doesn't that feel good?
Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce,
Bounce your boobies now!

Bounce your boobies everybody!"

For anyone that has this issue - let me recommend my favorite workout bra shop www.title9sports.com

They specialize in "you won't move so much as an inch" bras for the well-endowed as well as less sturdy bras all based on a scale of support, so you not only get to choose based on size, but on required level of support when finding the right bra.

They have worked wonders for me :)

i have hated bras in larger sizes (small band size large cup) since i started wearing them...they don't make good bras over a D cup....some of the european bras ($$$$$$) are better but none are truly comefortable for me. It seems like some of the bras are made by people who have never seen breasts or a woman for that matter. I'll be waiting for my high tech bra!

Great headline! And it's a serious problem, I get mad at the amount of money I have to spend just to make saiidi painless for my barely-Ds, I can't begin to imagine what women with larger breasts have to deal with.

BUT I gotta say the journalism on this article is some of the poorest I've ever seen. The woman they interviewed is developing a product, and they're apparently taking HER word that no decent product yet exists? A quick googling would have put them in touch with a different point of view, say from a representative at Title 9, about what makes a good support bra and how to find one.

And how exactly does this scientific research help them design a better bra? All they've learned is that boobs swing around when you jog. Oooooh, revolutionary!

(sorry, cranky this morning. I'll go drink coffee now.)

No worries! I thought they were a miracle when I found them...my DDs tend to defeat most bras, but the Title 9 ones have worked great :)

I dunno, bhuzzers are never satisified, last week bras were evil and giving us all cancer, this week they aren't restrictive enough.

p.s. I was going to say I've always found my fairly stiff cupped push up t shirts bras do the job perfectly adequately for my Ds, and it seems the study agrees with me (I think that is the type they mean is best for reducing the side to side as well as the up and down the monoboob sports bras do). It'd be a desperate day you'd find me in a sports bra (a.k.a. the (often slightly droppy also) mono-boobed penut smuggler look) *shudder*.

LOL - yep - that's why I don't get the mono-boob ones :) Thankfully they make great supportive ones now for sports that have 2 cups...which is good for me ;)

I'll see your "Bounce Your Boobies!" and raise you a "Knockers Up!"

Rusty Warren is soooo much fun!

Knockers up! Knockers up! Knockers up!
Ladies get your knockers up!

Although at the moment I don't have the energy to transcribe the whole thing....

And on another note...

Do your boobs hang low? Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot? Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder like a continental soldier?
Do your boobs hang low?

When you're sleeping at night, do they roll off the bed?
Can you swing them left and right, and then bounce them off your head?
Are they very hard to train, are they too well fed?
Has too much been said?

These bras always give me the dreaded "Double-boobage" effect - you know, where it looks like one boob is sitting on top of the other. I need \full-coverage, baby!

For exercise, I wear a good racer back bra UNDER a sports bra. No movement at all.

I don't jog, so can't speak to jogging, but I have D's and I like to layer an L Rose velvet stretch bra over a Lane Bryant bra for extra firm support. Plus it can look good under a costume.

I just went out looking for a bra for an embellishment workshop and was stunned to find out that I'm up in the DD range now.

Good news: have three new bras in the right size to wear now!

Bad news: now just that much harder to find a stiff bra to embellish!

I love Title 9, but it bothers me that they don't say the maker's names of the bras. I really prefer Champion and Moving Comfort sports bras, and it's hard to shake those out of their long list.

OK new question. What about the small breasted person who still needs some support & uplift & WANTS some bounce & enhancement? What to wear for class? I had a really nice bathing suit top from Catalina which I bought about 2 or 3 yrs ago but unfortunately I lost it. It was pretty & it did the trick. Constructed like a bra but, being a bathing suit, it was outer wear. I have two really great-looking UK sports bras but they are a bit too restrictive. (From boobydoo - they are called "Shock Absorbers")
