Velvet Lining?

I'm refurbishing a bedlah and will be putting in a new lining. I found a large piece of stretch velvet at Goodwill for 99 cents! It's beautiful. I ran it through the washer/dryer and it seems like it would make a perfect luxurious lining. But someone told me that velvet "creeps" on the skin. Would a velvet lining make my bra ride up or my belt slip down?

Where's the emoticon for ?????

Aside from creeping, which could be an issue, I'd personally never use velvet as a lining material because it would make a costume hotter/ would soak up sweat easier and take longer to fully dry/air out....same for traping smells.

I once had a SIM which was lined with velvet (the bra). It stayed in place well, but I found I like the satin-like lining of Bella costumes best. Velvet is really hot in summer.

Thanks for the replies. I can see that the hotness/sweat factor could be a problem. Maybe Goodwill will have a nice piece of satin... Maybe I can make some accessories with the velvet. I think I will use it for the bra straps.

You might also end up with velvet fuzz creeping out across your skin from underneath the belt and bra as the costume moves against your skin--I had a bra that did this to me for a while, not a very lovely look
