Pharonics price increase soon.....

Just spoke to Audrena and she let me know that all Pharonics costumes will have a $100 increase. She said you can custom order at the old price by mid-October. She advised me that Amria will introduce a new line of less expensive costumes, as well.
BTW, for anyone waiting for a custom order, the shipment from Egypt is leaving today.

Bummer, as if they weren't expensive enough already! I had hoped prices would be coming down a little since we have access to so many costumes online as opposed to the days when everyone had to hand make their costumes. I guess competition hasn't done much to drive prices down. Ah well. A gal can dream.....

Price increase? For what - the 8 month turn around time, the wrong sizes arriving?
that stinks.
Yes, I'm jaded.

Sorry ladies, just passing on the news from Audrena. As for the eight month turn around, she said Amira has promised her requested turn around times. Audrena can explain that one to you. When I order from her, I usually receive the costume within four months. I think once it took longer and once I got it in under two months. To be fair, I think the quality of Pharonics has gone up in the last few years. Really. On the other hand, I wish Amira would simplify some of her designs. They are so elaborate, I wish they were a bit less fussy.

I would just wait and see if we all keep selling on Bhuz instead of buying new all the time maybe the price will drop . I make custom order costumes and my bead work may not be as perfect but my over all sewing is much better and fits. no 8 month wait i am also waiting for costumes I ordered in jan . i dont remember what they look like .

Wouldn't that be great!
Unfortunately, I simply do not have the time to sew, nor the inclination!
I find it an exercise in complete frustration!
*sigh*

Gosh that will be just shy of a thousand dollars for a custom pharonics..I don't know about you ladies but I don't make enough to afford that. I could hardly afford the last one, which came back twice with the wrong measurements.
Thank god I can sew.

EXACTLY my problem. If customer service was good, then, okay, but really. For the prices we are paying, come on!

I think Audrena is sligtly raising the price. I was told that Amira is bringing up the price only by $50. Also I think this is the worst time to do such move as Pharaonics are becoming less popular than they once were. Maybe it's just me but the demand on Amira's costumes has declined over the past year. They are not as sexy as Emans, and not as elaborate as Bellas. Plastic beads are not a plus as well.

I actually told Audrena that I thought Amira should modernize her designs, make them more sleek. I am hoping her supposed new line of lesser priced costumes will have a simpler and sleeker look. I know with Amira the size I order is the size I get, so I am hoping she adjusts her designs.

To be the devil's advocate, when is the last time Pharaonics raised their prices? I am actually amazed that they haven't gone up with inflation. I bought an evening flare dress from Dahlal over six years ago and it is still the same price! $100 is a pretty big jump, but inflation at 3% is about 20 bucks a year. Just something to think about.

I'll be sad too
I was planning on ordering a Pharaonics soon, so I'll be sure to order before mid-october

I think that pharoanics has much more competition now. It was hoping that more competition would drive down prices a little. It just don't seem smart from a business sense to raise prices when in the last couple years you have Eman, Sahar and Bella selling more and more. Of course I could be mistaken, I'm not a business major or anything.

They've already gone up! I ordered direct from Amira about a month ago and she told me it would be $500 plus shipping.
I imagine that it is more likely because of designers like Eman and Sahar that she is raising the prices. Emans prices have gone up about the same amount over the past 3 years and Sahars of course are super expensive.

Oh I am sorry but I think Amira has signature look just as did Madam Abla and to slavishly follow a trend set by Eman and Hoda is wrong. I must be lucky in that the Amira costumes I have had..a dress that I adore, a red set I sold on and the skirt I bought here on Bhuz are all excellent quality. I agree the wait for these costumes is over long. I am waiting on an Amira from Dahlal since June and I know others wait longer but you want quickly, you have to go to source! I cannot even blame the traders too much, they take an enormous risk sometimes and it must be somewhat difficult trading over the miles.
Some dancers love and worship the pared down lycra, other like the more elaborate, other love their Turkish. The variety is part of the JOY of the costume.
You want sleek, plain lines you can go to Eman. You want fringe and embroidery you may go to Pharoanics.
I think you'll find the future bringing new ideas, retro ideas and new designers.

There is already another thread on this, but Dahlal now has a huge price drop on in-stock Pharonics. Per the email, some were under $500. I think that must mean there is a large new shipment and some newer designs coming so they are cleaning out.
If anyone wants the email, email me at jodymedancer@yahoo.com and I will forward it to you.

The problem is the prices are going up to dance, workshops, costumes, but the pay for working dancers doesn't seem to budge, thanks to the undercutters and cheap restaurant owners! We need to make enough money so we don't go in the hole each year just to work as dancers!
