Bella question
I have a wonderful Bella costume that is still stunning but is definately showing it's age. What do you do with a designer costume when it isn't top notch any longer? It is still stunning - great design and solid - but has some missing beads, some sequins don't sparkle quite as much, pulls in chiffon skirt. Do you retire it? Do you sell it to hobbyist dancers? Students? How do you get across the fact that it is still a beauty, just older?
It is like an incredibly glamorous aging star.
What do you do?

I would just list it for sale with a thorough description. Other dancers will decide if they can rehab it or use it as a first costume, etc. I would never just retire out a costume. One dancers trash is anothers treasure, after all!

if i dont want to wear it anymore, i'd probably either list it here (with indications of its problems and let the price reflect that), or sell it to a student, or in present situation, put it in troupe rotation.

You could list it here - lwith all the flaws, a nice big discount for the wear and tear, and some one (like myself :) might not mind the damage and would like to fix it up.
I only have one Bella (my others are mostly Pharaonics) but it's one of the most comfortable, sparkling, beautiful and flattering costumes I have. However $600 for 1 costume is still over my limit, and all the Bellas listed here are gone in a second.
I wouldn't mind the flaws if the price was reduced substantially.

Some of us are obsesive fix-er uppers and wouldn't be afraid of readbeading and sequining areas of a Bella. Sell.
Just saying.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. Right now I have a possible trade but if that doesn't happen I will probably sell it.

I happen to run a home for wayward unwanted Bellas. Anyone who has an unwanted Bella should send it to me immediately.
The costumes will receive splendid care here, sleeping in a cedar-lined wardrobe and occasionally going out on supervised dance trips to haflas, restaurants and private parties.
The costumes particularly enjoy our program of periodic vodka spritzing. *hiccup*

Who doesn't enjoy a program of periodic vodka spritzing?

I am with Ozma, I would not be afraid to do some rehab on a Bella or other beautiful costume. I have done this several times on other costumes.
I would sell it if you don't want it.
