Tribal headdress question?

Hi there;I;m doing a tribal/ghawazee fusion'and trying to put a headdress together i would like to include a long scarf with a banjara headband and finish with a nice turkmeni headdress. My question is would this look ok and what sort of scarf should i get eg. silk cotton or indian lurex maybe? I;m wearing full tribal costume but just want to add a little ghawazee style to it'also how long should the veil be? thanks stef.

well, i am no tribal costuming expert but logic tells me the length of the scarf depends on the proportions of the rest of the costume and what you need to balance our your body shape/type.

it is hard to say without seeing the costume. do you have pics? do you mean like this

or

if you want the veil/scarf very long, you might want to tuck the bottom corners into the sides of your belt to place emphasis on your hip movements when viewed from the back.

i prefer natural fibers when ever possible and find lurex itchy. again, i would have to see the rest of your costume to give you an opinion of what "goes".

sorry if this is not very helpful. i need some sleep!

Khariyya Maazin and her sisters are the only Ghawazee dancers I'm familiar with, and I'm trying to remember if I've ever seen them in any kind of headdress, beyond maybe a wide headband. I know there are other families of Ghawazee, but I can't remember seeing pictures of them. (I tend not to trust re-enactments or drawings).

So if it were me, I'd just go with a tribal headdress, in whatever style you find attractive. The photos posted above are lush and gorgeous!!! I'm not a tribal-style dancer, but it seems to me like half the fun is being free from cultural context & able to mix & match at will.

I´m Tribal styler and "classical" bellydancer too.

As Kajihra says: there is no tribal police.

You can make your headdress as you like it.

I would prefer sari fabric or assuit for the veil/scarf and the veil is beautiful up to the belt or even longer.

Please show us a pic when you are ready.
