For outdoor summer days....

Hello everyone...

I work at an outdoor renaissance faire all summer, and I have mastered the art of turning my back to the audience and doing sexy snaky arm things while secretly wiping the hyuuuge drop of sweat from the tip of my nose. Ew.

So I understand that on 104-degree days, everyone pretty much looks like butt and it can't be helped. But I can keep trying!

I love love love MAC shadows and liners, and you could scuba-dive in that lipstick, but the shadow -- not so much.

And foundation... ::sigh:: will that all-the-rage bare-mineral stuff really stay on and look ok?

Also I am uber-pale and generally wear the Neutrogena spf 45 non-oily-finish stuff, but I am open to suggestions to protect my skin and minimize makeup slippage.

I like to wear harem pants under my skirt whenever possible -- they keep my sandals from coming untied, prevent my skirt and undies from fighting, etc. But it gets hot hot hot... any recommendations for fabric or brands of harem pants to wear in the hot humid summer? I'm wondering if there's a sheer microfiber excercisey fabric I could use... hmmm...

TIP: I cannot recommend Certain-Dri highly enough for underarms. It actually shrinks the pores to prevent sweating and odor. I haven't worn it in summer yet, but it's been awesome for everyday wear. They have AM and PM (or post-shaving and not-post-shaving) formulas and you can get it at the drugstore. Most effective stuff I've ever worn.

Thanks for any tips!!!!!

How about two nice men standing on either side of the stage with giant palms, fanning you??? Of course, being hot, they wouldn't be wearing terribly much.

(Oops, sorry, slipped into non-pc-reverse-harem-fantasy-world there. Totally inappropriate)

Can you wear a breezy full skirt instead of harem pants? Or perhaps if you must wear harem pants, can you make a crotchless pair, or get the kind with splits right down the sides of the legs? I'm not sure microfibre would be that great, as I dont' think it breathes terribly well.

I'm a huge sweater when dancing and like to wear Revlon's Skinlight Diffusing Tint foundation (plus pressed powder foundation on top). It's one of those 'radiant' ones with light diffusing particles, or whatever. Because it's light, I seem to sweat through it without it turning to heavily caked mud on my face. it doesn't completely disappear, but gives a sheerish cover that looks better post-sweat.

And can you insist on dancing under a tree or other shade, or limit your time in the sun? It's only fair that your provided with an environment where you don't risk heat-stroke.

It may not be PC, but I like it!
