Help me find some fake hair!
I'm missing my long hair, and would love to purchase a couple of falls. Does anyone have a good website to get them from? Also, I have SUPER fine hair and HATE wearing headbands...what kind of fall would you all recommend? I think a clip-in pony tail would work, but I'm not sure what other kinds are out there....
Thanks!

Try Hair Sisters
Hello,
Try www.hairsisters.com for various hair textures and colors. They have weaving hair, falls, and wigs. Just make sure to call first before you order to make sure they have the hair in stock.
Hope this helps!

I second Hair Sisters - I've had great experiences with them and the prices are really reasonable.
I usually use drawstring ponytails, which feel more secure to me than clip ponytails. I have superfine hair too, and have never had any problems with them. I also wear 3/4 wigs without a headband. (They bug me, too.)
(I find that a few well-placed bobby pins really can work wonders.)
Have fun!

Whoa...I find the hair sisters site truly hard to navigate! And are half wigs the same as 3/4 wigs?

Hi! If you are going to "Carnival of Stars" (Alexandria's show) in November, stop by my table -- I'll be next to Ma Suqua -- and we have TONS of hair pieces, all kinds, and wigs, too. Extensions, you name it. Prices are $2 to $10 (mostly $8) (yep, yep, really!!) Full length beautiful wigs are $45. We sold a bunch last year, had a blast -- everything from hair extensions to curls to sparklie thingies with spikes. Braids. Add-ons. Falls. Banana clips, other clips, big clips, little clips, no-clips. FUN stuff. These are GOOD QUALITY, too -- ("Mona Lisa" brand, etc.) -- NOT junky stuff! The full wigs are really pretty (retail around 85 & up). Info on the show is on Ghawazee.com. COME BY THE TABLE & LET'S PLAY WITH THIS STUFF (and while you're at it, try on one of Ma Suqua's costumes, they're FABULOUS!!!) If anyone is interested, maybe I could do a small-scale sale at the dance studio in San Francisco. Anyone interested?

http://www.lfhair.com/index.php This website has different kinds of fake hair.
I usually wear a fake ponytail, even though my hair is long. I put my hair in a bun and attach and no one knows the difference.

I dont know where to get them, (I ordered them from my hairdresser @ Le'Angelines for my wedding. I had them matched, then highlighted), but I love my easixtend extensions.
Expensive (Close to $400 when all was said and done), ::eek: but well worth the price. I have the 100% human hair 16 inch 9 piece set clip ins. If you look at any of my gallery pictures, I've got them in. No one ever believes Im wearing clip ins.
The large ones stay in during zar, the smaller ones need a little more reinforcement as Jade can attest to
Here is a coupla clips from my wedding:

I have some synthetic easixtends (much cheaper than the human hair ones, but also by jean reneau), but I haven't tried them yet. they'll help with the fullness, but I don't think they'll add to the length. Plus, I don't think I have a great color match: I rented a color ring, but the extensions have a redder tone than I noticed on the swatch. I bought mine at extensions.com

Oh, yikes, I how weird the site can be, I think I'm just used to it. I always click on Shopping and then I use the drop down box on the left and select "Shop by Style" - that should direct you to the Half Wigs pretty quickly. Then, you just have to click through the different waves or curls.
I'm not positive about the difference between half wigs and 3/4 wigs though - I believe it refers to the size of the cap on the wig?
(Wore a 3/4 wig for my wedding)

I want to say a 3/4 wig covers a good bulk of your head. It should have combs attached around the perimeter of the wig. It is designed to only have about an inch of your hairline out. The half wig is good if you want to draw your hair into a ponytail in my opinion.
I used to use the 3/4 wig because the less hair I have out, the better "match" between the wig and my own hair. But, since I dance with soooo much energy on most days, I have this grave fear that it will go flying off. So, I gave up and just had it sewn in. Now I can shake my hair with the best of them!!

I just mentioned this on the other thread about "perms vs. hairpieces" but here it is again: I like www.wigs.com and my favorite brands of synthetic 3/4 and ponytails are: Wig Pro and Rene of Paris. Since your own hair is showing and computer monitors vary, you may want to consider buying a color wheel to check color carefully before ordering - there are restocking fees if you have to return it and some are NOT returnable. I always order #33 Dark Auburn, my hair is sort of that color and my hairdresser colors my hair to match my hairpieces. It's a nice look and very natural; your own hair and hairlines shows so much people really can't tell you are wearing hairpiece.
I'm not sure what "half-wigs" are but 3/4 wigs are classified as "falls" and 1/2 falls are more like very full ponytails.
My tip on ponytails is that the interlocking combs just don't stay - I get the butterfly or claw clips instead. The combs on the 3/4 falls are different; they are at top and bottom and you also pin hairpiece to hair.
Full wigs are just too hot for me, even with mesh top.
Hope this helps!

hey--did you try the place in Central Square on Mass Ave? They might be more geared towards African-American hair, but it's worth checking out. Also there is Dorothy's Wig Boutique on Mass Ave maybe five or six blocks down from the Hines Convention Center stop, I know I've seen a lot of blond in the window there :)

I'm crazy about I Kick Shins. She makes falls, braids, twists and dreads, in every color you can imagine.

If you want to try a cheap solution to see if you like them, I went to Sally's Beauty Supply and bought a drawstring ponyfall for something like 10-15$. It's very "I Dream of Jeannie". I just put my hair up in a bun - and I was lucky enough to find one that matches my hair. By the way, I thought your hair was still long? Or was that a fabulous hairpiece today?

Why not just go to one of those Asian-owned beauty supply places that dot the town? They have a smorgasbord of fun, sparkly, neato and sometimes bombastic (great for if you're on stage) stuff... everything a dancer needs in terms of beautifying herself! And it's cheaper, too! And you don't have to worry about shipping costs or waiting! If your town is like St. Louis and the surrounding counties, if you don't find what you're looking for in one store, just mosey a couple hundred yards to the next one. I have a feeling that it might be a bit similar in many areas in Boston.
You should be able to find all sorts of wigs and hairpieces and falls in your color if you're a cab dancer or in crazy colors that tribal fusion dancers like If
I'm really surprised that it seems like no one has discovered this.
