normal. no doctor needed :)
Lilla, that happens. I think it's the set point resetting thing. I have not been watching what I eat very well (have actually been fairly evil) and I've stayed the same for 2 months almost. granted, i should have been losing, but my body has adjusted to a new place and it seems comfortable here.
Now for the big push down...I'm psyching up for it.

Thanks for the reassurance! I think I've been reading too many scary articles in health magazines.
Yeah, it feels kind of like hanging out at base camp for a few days being lazy, playing games, making s'mores over the fire, etc. before packing on the gear for the next grueling mountain ascent. I think it can be good to take breaks.
(No, I am not into mountain climbing, but my brother-in-law is a hard core pro climber so I've seen more than a few descriptive slideshow presentations...)

I think my set point has reset, too. I've been very...relaxed in my approach lately and eating out a LOT but I'm stilll hovering at 13-15 pounds below where I was before.
The tryptophan supplements continue to help my night eating, and I've met at least one other person who has the same eating issue who's finding it helps her, too.

*does happy dance* I weighed in today at my Weight Watchers meeting...I lost another 2.2 lbs, and so that puts me at a total of -5.8 lbs in two weeks!!! Woo hoo!!! I'm so excited.
My new secret: I stop eating when I'm comfortably full. Sounds like common sense, but I'm the kind of girl who likes to eat and eat, and clean my plate, even if it means that I'm going to be way uncomfortable afterwards.
No more of that for me!!!! (or at least, a lot less of that has been happening latley.)
:)

Congrats Yasmin... I feel like that is a big lesson for me too.... to stop eating when I am comfortably full (as opposed to oppressively full - ha ha)
Has anyone heard of the book Skinny B*tch - (the title is a joke) ... it is a book less about dieting and more about nutrition - it advocates a pretty strict vegan diet... but I thought it was an interesting read

This is great news and motivating! I'm still in a holding pattern but I'm trying! I've been waking up at 4 a.m. and then getting really hungry during the day - it is for sure related to weird sleeping patterns and stress.
I've got to figure that part out (er...it's called go to the gym!).
Retraining ourselves to stop when full and to make good choices are the keys to keeping weight off - I think that's one thing the Jenny Craig diet did for me too.
BTW, I think the stopping when full mechanism can be pushed - you dont' actually feel full until 20 minutes after you stop - I think that's why various people say to drink water 20 min. ahead of eating.

circling the terminal
I'm in a holding pattern too, hovering around 180lbs.
This has been a set point for me in the past, so my body *really* likes it here. I've started strategizing on how to push lower, adding a sprint to parts of the walk with puppy, and am attempting to cut out all factory made breads.
I may be weird, but it seems like homemade breads, even *gasp* white breads fill me up much more than store/factory breads. I miss the local artesian (artisan?) bread shop that closed in August, their spinach and feta loaf was awesome, a real one slice meal! *sigh*
On the up side, the 12's are getting loose and the 10's are getting much less snug.
It's so bittersweet to have you go Sunshine!
I'm thrilled that you made your goal, but will miss you!

So I'm finally going to be "brave" and join the diet thread! I need someone else to be accountable to. I've been doing WW online for the most part and about 5 years ago I lost about 50 pounds, but stopped before hitting my actual goal. I've hovered up and down a few pounds since then and have finally gotten to the point where I just want to reach my real goal.
I'm just under 5'6", don't know my measurements, but I wear a size 4/6/Small top and dress and a 6/8 bottom (depending on the cut b/c I have a booty and child-bearin' hips... no kids yet though and none in the immediate future). I gain weight unevenly on my stomach, and would love to get rid of my stomach covers... so that's my goal. Pound-wise, I'm thinking maybe 135-140?
I've been stuck at between 148-152 for the past 6 weeks and I'm really at a loss for what to do to get past this. My new goal is to get to the gym 5 days a week to walk at an incline on a treadmill and get back into lifting weights. I'd usually just go to dance and drill. I also teach classes/rehearse my troupe 3 days a week. How do you push past plateaus?

I've always been told that weightlifting is the fastest way through a plateau, because the muscle tissue you create will burn more calories at rest than the fat tissue you're replacing.
It worked for me once, I'll try it again!
I'm in a holding pattern, too. Actually, if I'm being honest, I'm in a gaining pattern, and it'll only accelerate as the holidays approach if I don't get serious FAST.

2 pounds is really healthy though! If you lose more than that per week and it's not your first few weeks on a weight loss program and it's not the week after some major pms/bloating, then supposedly it's too fast. Congrats!
Lauren ~ I know what you mean... 2 years ago I was "holding" at about 145, that crept up real quick to 165 and then I've been pushing it back down from there. Holidays can be the worst!

YAY! 2 pounds per week is very healthy. Keep going! Slow and steady wins the race, remember?

2 pounds is great!
Particularly when you hit the plateaus and you're stuck or lose a few ounces - you get a whole new appreciation of those 1 or 2 pound losses.
I didn't weigh this a.m. - here, I'll go do it now.....nope. Seems I will never weigh more or less than 161. Good grief. well, i'm not gaining and I'm really happy about that.
Hey - I haven't done a progress shot in a while - here's my new size 8/10 self - not awful but the tummy will not leave! And the "before" picture I took when we started the bhuz diet thread back in June:

I haven't "weighed in" on the conversation for a while but I'm finally below the 140 mark - 2 day's in a row my morning weight has been 139.5 lbs & I'm so stinking happy!!! I wanted to share
I started in July at 159-158 so this is a big deal to me. The only drag is none of my costumes fit - I'm still 20 lbs away from my old costumes & I have been in a frenzy to fix my plump girl costumes as some of the skirts & belts are now falling off - even the tops are too big (YEAH!!!!)
Sounds good in theory but we are dancing again at State fair today. I haven't tried on my gold costume in a couple of months & I have had to completely redo it & I'm not quite finished (yes I know I should get off the computer & get back to work). thank goodness I have been taking in my favs as I go but we just decided yesterday to do the gold...
I have nothing to wear for Halloween - still to chunky for my good stuff so I think I'll wrap myself in gauze & be a mummy

I've lost 3lbs--no biggie, but I'm happy. I haven't been super conscientious--today we went to Apple Hill (in the Sierra foothills--wonderful family apple farms--with baked goods, apple jam, apple butter, etc) and I did have an apple donut, a caramel apple(shared with my 2 kids) and pizza for lunch, but whatever. It's not like I do that every day and I'm fine with eating vegetable soup this week to balance out my indulgences.

3 pounds is great Mish Mish!!
I feel sometimes you have to enjoy the foods around you, In moderation of course. It sounds like you got it under control.
Even when I lost a lot of weight in the past I never just up and stopped everything.
If I have a candy bar. I will cut it up in 4 pieces. I will eat one piece every day until gone. Instead of eating 1 candy bar a day I would break it down. I still lost weight. So just that small piece of candy really helped my sweet tooth. I was satisfied.

It would have been a shame to be around so much delightful, locally made food and not enjoy a little bit of it. It was great to have a little taste of fresh apple cider out in the country with my family! We had fun, but there was more to it than just eating.

I feel skinnier anyway! I was teaching a move in the mirror sideways yesterday, and I was like, hey, where did my butt go? I guess 28 hours of dance rehearsal plus working out for another 10 hours will get ya to loose inches. Watch Ill get on the scale and it wont have budged...
