Where oh where has the fringe gone? Help!
Doesn't anyone make their own costumes anymore? It is getting harder and harder to find materials to do so.
Turquoise Intl gets in a shipment every 6 months. In the shipment they received this week they have hardly anything longer than 4" or 8" and a very limited color selection even then.
I'm looking for turquoise, lime green and black. 4", 8", 12".

Try Scheherezade. I recently ordered some from her. She usually has some colors and lengths in stock, or you can custom order it.

What I wish I could get is icicle fringe like Pharaonics uses. It's my favorite.

Kay's
I've never bought from Kay's, but they do seem to have a lot. Some of it is sewn on to ribbon, some has an "egyptian-style header."
Norma, check out this tri-color, $17.99 for 3 ft
And here's some 5" turquoise
Ooo-Ooo- wait
Lime green AND turquoise!
PS- if I did it right, clicking on the pix should take you to the auction page...

diamond pyramid imports in calif. [i think riverside county? my info is at home, sorry] has fringe.
also, horusandisis.com

imo: be wary of the cheap egyptian fringe on ebay. the stuff i received hangs all wiggly & wonky, and falls apart very quickly. a total waste of money

Amity, by your post I would assume that you've bought Kay's fringe before. What did you think of the quality? Did it hold up well?

I've bought from Horus & Isis, the quality was the very best I've seen. Heavy-duty, super-shiny. They have a $200 minimum order, though.

I've never had a problem with their fringe and all of my costumes I've made (check my site) have kay's fringe. I use fray check on all of my fringe-makes it last longer!

It's a pain in the arse, but if worst comes to the worst, I suggest getting out the old beading needle and thread. My first two costumes were fringed in this way!

And it teaches you what a darned bargain pre-beaded fringe is!

Kay's fringe is pretty good. I've bought several, and I've generally been very happy with them. You just have to make sure that the description says it can be cut at any length. Some of the first fringes I bought from her had several strands beaded on the same length of thread, so when I cut, I lost several strands.
Also, make sure you look at the picture of the fringe layed out, so you can tell how far apart each strand is sewn. Some of her fringes have closely spaced strands, but others do not. It's difficult to tell when it's all rolled up into a bundle in the picture.
Regards
Priscilla

If it's going to be all one color, get a beadspinner. It takes less time. http://www.beadspinner.com
