Zum--your glitterdot rant is the greatest anti-fabric rant of all time.
Shanmonster, the Bo Derek skull cap thingies
The 80's headband...I can't believe anyone still makes those but they are always all over Rakkasah.

THat's because its vileness inspires me. We should make a horror movie starring a pair of 4-yard glitterdot harems!

Together, they form.... The Sisterhood of the Fattening Pants!!
Tissue Lame is really the worst kind. I defy anyone, no matter how beautiful, slender or toned, to carry off tissue lame harems well. Tissue lame is kind of evil as well, because it's just so stiff and unforgiving. It can make for pretty circle skirts though.

I have a strong dislike for...
forehead headbands, tiaras, wonderwoman head thingies
super-long fringe (bra, belt, doesn't matter)
see-through skirts
face veils
and the silly foil slipper shoes.

Jessedan, over here we call them 'Jiffys' and yes I am a Jiffy Hater too.
Sorry mish mish (does your name mean 'no no' or 'apricot apricot'?) I may not be on board with the harem pant hating because I Looove pantaloons but anything made with disco sequin fabric should be burnt Immediately-!!

Ahh, I think Zum has already covered the disco sequin fabric though she calls is 'glitter dot' a much lamer name and much more suitable to a totally common fabric.

Almost forgot about glitter dot.....once, once I thought it would be neat to try to make a project out of it...never again.....I had to clean the @#$% glue off the needle every 10 or so stitches
Never again glitter dot, I've moved onto liquid lame (with a ball point needle of course)

I always feel sorry for Latin dancers who have to dance with men wearing glitterdot shirts, of which there are many. The horrible cold touch of plastic and scratchy lurex as you place your hand on his shoulder! *shudders*

HAIR GARDENS! Shanmonster, that is the funniest thing ever. I like flowers in the hair but does everyone have to wear them for every occasion?
"I hate a lot of hair gardens. Some of them look like old-fashioned toilet seat covers. You know, the ones covered with cheap plastic flowers that you'd never ever want to sit down on."

I am with ya'll on the slippers. . . oye. I dont like black ballet slippers and I really dislike the metallic slippers. Those never seem to fit anyone correctly either (the metallic), like the foot just needs to be big and fat to fill them out or something.

Bonfire of the ickys!
*lays wood in the pit for a glitterdot, ill-fitting harem pants, icky fabric bonfire*
On the harem pants, I have a pattern for a pair that puts a yoke on them, makes them a bit more tolerable to wear but being a plus sized lady, they still make my hiney look like a double wide.
Glitterdot -- Hate is too weak a word for how I feel about that nasty stuff. My first costume was a Ghawzee coat made from it...in red...in the video it did look like we were wearing liquid satin, which was kinda cool but I'm still, 10 years later!, finding the little dots here and there. Of course, last year, I chopped that butt ugly sucker up to make a costume for my daughter for a Latin ballroom dance we did, then I believe she chopped THAT up to make clothes for her Bratz dolls.
My big big big costumeing hate has to be yarn tassels made out of cheap polyester yarn like my mom crocheted with in the 70's. Nasty nasty nasty stuff.
*throws a polyester yarn and red glitterdot log into the fire*

You can't even burn the really bad yarn (I think the worst offender is acrylic) - that stuff melts and generates toxic fumes ;-)
Actually, when it comes to pants - what's really, really bad is the often-recommended time saver, buying a pair on men's pajama pants at Goodwill and adding elastic at the ankles for instant "harem pants". (I tried. Once.)

Glitterdot...nasty memories of stitching a whole troop load...oh nasty nasty...now adays I tremble at the mere shimmer in the fabric shop but I have another even stronger loathing for......pastel satin. Having been forced into it in group dances , I realise who the hell looks good in head to toe pastel satin?

As both a knitter and a dancer I do not like novelty yarn hair falls. If you're going to have fake hair that is not an exact match to your own, make it blend in to your own hair. Two hunks of fuzzy electro-acrylic yarn hanging off your head is not an attractice look.
When putting flowers in your hair, be careful of the placement. Avoid floral Mickey Mouse ears at all costs (coming from someone who's been there).
Tribal dancers, there is such as thing as too much jewelry.
And I totally hate the across the forehead, rolled fabric, 1980s aerobic instructor headbands.

Oh indeed...There is a trend towards the "let's throw on everything we can find look" until with feathers and threads we resemble the dreaded oosalem bird.Add that to amyriad of layered clothing......
And for cab gals there is the toilet seat headgear(usually in GOLD)...a step beyond the 80s sweatband

My costuming pet peeve is Hermes sandels... especially when they're worn with a skirt that's too short. UUUU-UUUGH-LEEE!

My biggest costuming pet peeve is the too long bra straps. I always worry about the bra slipping up or down or to the side.... I find it difficult to not say something to the gals who need to hike up "the girls" a bit.
And whoever said "Faster, Glitterdot! Kill! Kill!" owes me a new keyboard!
I swear I want that on a t-shirt with a picture of a dancer in glitterdot harems and vest, a garden in her hair, a belt with looooooong fringe, a bra worn too low and with "nassles" and the eee-ville metallic slipper thingys. Hee hee!

I'm not a fan of asymmetrically designed bras that make your boobs look asymmetrical, too. It makes me wanna tilt my head just so, so the girls look straight. (not all asymmetrical designs to this)

I don't care for asymmetry in the bras, either.
I like harem pants (properly fitted) but don't like the ones with the huge slits. Sometimes, I worry if they're going to reveal too much. Actually, I don't like huge slits with bare legs in anything. It distracts me from the dancer and has me concerned if she's going to show herself to us by accident.
I hate when I see dancers that look unpolished, be it hair or face. Natural is fine, but I don't like when it looks like they haven't put any effort into looking up to par with their costumes.
