These aren't meant to be worn as belly dance harem pants - the fit of the hip/crotch area is such that they're meant to be pulled up all the way to the high waist. I tried wearing the elastic at hip level, and the crotch dangled to my knees. Also, they're short. On me they come to capri length, which looks kind of silly with the big full flare of the leg. My husband thinks they're hideous.
So, even though I bought them, I was disappointed. Oh well. They ARE very comfortable. So they're good for stuff like lounging around the house at night (instead of PJ's), or sitting around the deck by the hot tub, wearing them over my swimsuit. I doubt I'll be wearing them much in public, though.

That is a great outfit, Alcrea! The bra that looks like you have fried egg boobs, the foofy sleeves, the hideous harem pants...perfectly awful!
And those hippie/harem pants---they look like a waiter in a Moroccan restaurant.

lol, i bought a pair of pants similar to these for my "real" clothes about 5yrs ago, mine are different in that there is goldenrod and white embroidery across the belt and down the legs. the embroidery brings out the shape so they arent nearly as frumpy. I really like them but they arent for everyone
p.s. i used to wear these when i was in high school and they didnt go over very well then either
i will post a pic of me in them in my gallery if i can, i used the for a halloween cleopatra costume

never worn them, never will.outside of my personal feelings, they are not "marketable" where we are.the ethnic community hates them. i hate pants of any kind, and do not even own a pair of jeans!
the thought of pants cuts off my air pipe!

Alcrea, I'm afraid you'll give me nightmares just from having looked at this concoction!
Of course, the scary thing is this - what if this photo finds its way to some cheap copycat garment knockoff maker in Egypt or India or China who wants to get rich off making belly dance costumes but doesn't have an original thought in their head, and they see this as something to actually copy and sell? Oh, the horror, the horror!

I'm only 5'3 so me wearing harem pants would make me look even shorter. I think skirts are more feminine anyway. It is a definate NO to harem pants. NO, NO, NO, NO and NO.

"We can make you costume like this. Any color. Just tell us size you like. Costume straight from Egypt. 2 weeks. Nice materials."

Pugs are proven to be 97% cuter than harem pants.

Sometimes harem pants can be cute. Here are some examples that I like:
From Ali Baba Bunny:
From A Lad In His Lamp:
From King Tut's Tomb:

But Shira, have you noticed in all those shots that the pants are really figure hugging at the top, and only billow out at the bottom, sort of like those renaissance pics, where the flimsy gause falls in exactly the right place on the naked people. There must be hundreds of unseen pics of bugs and lady bugs in more ungainly looking pants, but they are kept hidden to keep the consipracy going, to make our children grown up thinking harem pants are flattering.

Can't walk in harem pants. Besides being unattractive on short & stalky people like me, I've literally tripped walking up/down stairs EVERY time I attempted to wear them (had to for a troupe gig).
Okay, where'd you find the fried egg boobs?? Reminds me of the dark green cozzie at the very end of this clip, which I LOVE.
I found a costume like this on a site like a year ago and haven't seen any since. Anybody know where I can get one of those??
