Christmas parade and performance

My troupe is going to march in our town Christmas parade and do a short outdoor performance after. I really need some costuming advice. It could possibly be quite cold, we want to go with a somewhat Christmasy theme, and we don't want to offend any of the more conservative people in town. We can't afford expensive costumes so ordering from Dahlal etc just isn't an option.

I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks so much!

What about simple red velvet mermaid-style skirts and long-sleeve cholis trimed in fake white fur? The trim could be removed later & the costume reused for another event. Simple, elegant and warm! (And not too expensive if someone sews.)

We're marching in our town's parade as well and we're going to wear the "Bellydancer" pants from Sharifwear and then have zip up jackets made up in the same fabric as the pants (coordinating at least) with our logo embroidered on the back. Then we'll either wear red or green tops underneath the jacket. Of course, we don't have a performance afterwards b/c our town doesn't do that.

I love Beth's idea though... that sounds super cute!

Number 13 on the leftside frame, letters B & G is from the Medeival Faire, they are the full Ghawazee coats, layered over gauze tunics and big cotton harem pants. Really warm and conservative! And really pretty. This is the first troupe I danced with. We did the Christmas parade with a performance afterward at the candlelighting ceremony in these costumes too.

Flannel veils? Just kidding.

How about L Rose's velvet beledi dress? Very pretty, very affordable, toasty-warm. I'd order soon, though!
