Help! The Fringe on my Bra is Effed Up

So I bought a lovely bedleh from Nasila on Bhuz... the fringe on the bra seemed a little long, so I took it to a seamstress to have the fringe shortened. I got home ( long day, late at night, just wanted to go home...) and discovered that all she had done was just tie up the fringe! It looks like firecrackers!!!!

I don't want to take it back to her. Perfectly nice lady but maybe should be retiring from professional needlework, I'm realising. I'm afraid to attack the bra myself in case I ruin the fringe entirely.

Is there anyone on this board who can fix it for me??? I can't find anyone near here who can deal with fringe shortening.

Good thing I don't need this costume right away. Ugh.

Ugh. The only way to properly shorten it is to undo it entirely and redo another, shorter fringe. Why not give it a shot? You can't wreck it...

There are shortcuts to be made, but as you see here... aren't exactly ideal. ;-)

Yikes! The good thing is that fringe is very, very high quality but it also means there's not much you can do but re-string the beads if you want it to look decent shortened. I have an Abla with that same problem with duel-colored fringe that I haven't had the guts to rip into yet...I feel your pain. ;)

If you can undo what the seamstress did, you may be able to untack the fringe from the bra it and re-attach it higher up on the bra (esp through the middle so there's no drape)?

Dude, wait...you paid her to do this? I think you ought to talk to her and ask for your money back.. Look at it this way, if I hired you to perform at my restaurant and didn't like something you did, would you want me to swallow my discomfort and talk to you about it? Or tell you everything's fine then fire you?

C'mon, Shimi, this is your chance to enter the Brass Cymbals awards!!!

(ummm, of course you realize I could no more ask for my money back from the nice seamstress lady than fly. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be better than me!)

Yeaah, I realise I should do that. But she's basically the mom of a family friend *awkward*
I'm not going to deal with it for another week because I have no time. Then I'll try talking to her about it. she did a great job five years ago but I think that maybe this is a little beyond her now and I didn't realise it at the time.

Yeah, that's pretty awkward. People's moms are exempt.

Can you take each end of the fringe string and sew it up on the bra so it loops instead of hangs straight? Make a new hanging pattern and cut off the strings not needed?

she actually tied each little strand up? I've never seen that...and having fixed and made costumes for many years I've seen a lot! If you can take a pic and send it to me I might be able to come up with a fix for you. drop me a pm if you want to.

Hmmm. Will hunt up a working camera and try to take pix of the damage in a couple of days...
