Help! What to do with half-grown-out bangs?
I have a photo shoot on Sunday, and I'm struggling with what to do with my hair. When I had bangs I would leave those straight and curl the rest of my hair (see photos in gallery), but now my bangs are at about mouth-length so they look funny if I leave them straight and if I try to curl them they just look all..err..sticky-outy.
I want to wear my hair down, but maybe pin my bangs up? Help! WWBDD?

You can have them angled and thinned... works great for me when I grow mine out. Otherwise, you can pin up and curl sections of hair and curl the bangs to help them blend in?

Curl the bangs (that sounds so weird to a Brit!) and instead of leaving them to drop around your face, pin them up & back with a comb-slide or clips. You could back-comb them to give the swept-up hair a bit more volume & give you bigger hair (kind of like this http://www.beatricecurtis.co.uk/images/tg2.jpg but without the bit of fringe that I still had then, or this http://www.beatricecurtis.co.uk/images/jc1.jpg but less messy)
Edited to add- obv, this is not all my own real hair, but my delightful hairpiece, Esmerelda. Which is mine, insofar as I bought her with my own real money, but did not grow out of my own real head. My real hair is thin & weedy & pathetic.

Ooh, you have a name for your hairpiece, soo cute ! I want hair that makes my hair look longer, but so far, any hairpiece I have seen is shorter than what I have now, plus I seem to have the most complex colour and texture known to man, and I do not want to spend hours curling a hairpiece so it matches in. Sorry off topic talking about me, me, me. Well that's us sagitarians for you <flounces off to look in a mirror>

If they're curled, they can be brushed back into the hair & perhaps held with a jeweled comb or pin. I'm guessing you wouldn't be posting here if you had something so obvious as a headband that matches your costume?
You could also try parting your hair far over on the side and sweeping the bangs across your forehead, maybe?
Sometimes curling just the ends fixes the sticky-outy-ness if you want to leave them down.
Bea, you name your hairpieces too? I have Lulu, Betty, and Jeannie.

Esmeralda is very pretty and I would have never guessed that she did not start life growing on your own head! Why type of hairpiece is she--a 3/4 wig?

I'd take Beatrice's advice, curl them and pin them.
If you didn't want to curl them though, you could do a side part and then pin them flat to look like a sort of "natural headband" with the curled hair falling over them. I did that a few times with my hair growing out.

Good ideas! I'll go practice tonight since my hubby's away on business!
Beatrice, I LOOOOOVE how you did your hair/Esmerelda. :) Is that a human hair fall?

I do a sort of retro-40's-esque pouf on top with the bangs when I wear my hair in a ponytail, but it also works for curling the rest. Take the bang section and back comb a little for volume, twist a tiny bit, push forward and pin
hope the shoot turns out great

Thank you everyone for your nice comments about Esmerelda. She's a 3/4 fall, synthetic (hence the rather cheezy name ). She has a big sister, Petula & a new baby sister, Isabella (one of those pony-tail clips- I'm pretty impressed with the gripping power!)

I have a pony-tail clip as well, though no name yet. They do grip well! I was shocked to find I could do a hair flip and the thing didn't fly into someone's dinner

Totally OT but:
Ba! If you ever decide to part with that beautiful dress you're wearing in the first photo, please put me first in line. Not sure why you would, of course -- it's lovely on you!
Suzana (who never tries to snatch the costumes off other people's backs IRL, honest)

Hi Zana,
Nice to see you back on Bhuz! I still have the red dress I bought from you and it gets lots of compliments.

Hi, Souzan! Thank you very much -- it's nice to be back!
I was thinking about you and that dress just yesterday, believe it or not. I'm glad to hear it's an audience-pleaser, and I'd love to see it on you. If you have any pictures, please share!
Best,
Suzana

Planning on wearing it for a show coming up in early December. There will be a photog there and I am doing the photoshoot thing as long as I am aleady in stage makeup.
I ended up lengthening the dress by opening up the shoulder seams and adding two inches of red velvet and then beading over the seams. Added red mesh sleeves and used the gauntlets for appliques on the sleeves and to make wrist, ankle and head bands. And if wasn't duded up enough with beads and sequins, I added crystals to the top point of each godet.

Wow! I knew it could be glammed up to the nines by some talented person. I just wish that talented person lived near me and could be persuaded to give glamming-up lessons.
Can't wait to see your photos.
