It stays on wonderfully; it is held on just by the weight and balance all on it's own. I had no idea how I was going to anchor it while I was making it but I figured I'd cross that bridge when I got to it. When everything was put together and i got it on my head there was no need for me to add a thing! :) of course; I won't be doing backbends in it but other than that i's very secure.

Awesome.
I didn't recognize the costume by itself, but I did recognize the headpiece. Now I have the Moulin R version of Diamonds are a girls best friend in my head...

The whole costume is stunning, truly beautiful and you look stunning wearing it. I wouldn't have the patience to do this (even if I could).

I am in awe of your skill and talent. I could never even *fathom* making something that beautiful!
To hijack slightly, do you have your hair professionally colored, or is it out of a box. I'd love to get mine that vibrant!

I think you could have a lucrative business in headdresses there. I'll be your first paying customer.

Both headdress and costume are amazing! You did a great job at the beading, recreating the look of the costume without copying it exactly. I also love the bellynet with added glitter, didn't Nicole Kidman wear a huge jewel in her navel underneath the bellynet at the end of the movie?
Now I have to go and watch Moulin Rouge. The red corset gown in it is also to die for.

Thank you! :) My hair is a combination of a custom mixed salon color plus a celphane over it plus color depositing shampoo AND conditioner. :p Upkeep is insane. :p

Nope, it's very light! I've plopped it on a few of my friends heads and they were all amazed that it was so light yet so secure. :)

LOL, I"m sure I could make these out of any bead combination. ;) I'm actually working on one for a friend who wants an 'Ice Princess theme' complete with little penquin glass beads at the tips. lol!

Hmm, I don't know about wearing the jewel underneath the net; it looked to me like it was on the net (or I would have done it under). I'm actually missing the jewel in the center of my chest (in the pic of me wearing it) that is supposed to echo the one at the belly.
Heh, yep the red gown is on my list; I was actually planning on making it this summer and even have a bolt of red silk satin in my sewing room but I had some 'real life' issues this summer so I didn't have time to do it. I'll get around to it eventually though!

Crimson Vision, is the netting area sewn into the costume or is it some sort of body suit, I love that idea. It is such an elegant costume.

Thank you! The netting is one of the #1 body stockings from Sugar Petals; here is direct link to it: Sugar Petals Dance Accessories Custom Body Stockings
I got a #1 in nude power net and then just added the rhinestones while I had it stretched out over a pillow.

OOoh, Just came to this thread, saw the headpiece and thought 'moulin rouge!'. I had a red corset and skirt made like the one she wears in the elephant after watching that film. That headpiece is amazing. I too would like one, but all in diamontes.
