Black and Gold Costume I made! :)
Hey Everyone;
I thought I would share a costume I recently completed. The only bits on it I didn't make was the base bra which I built everything onto and that is a Sugar Petals bodystocking I embellished. I even made the headpiece from scratch; something I had never attempted before! I sculpted the tikka, hand beaded all the trim (well the trim on the hem is an ebay special)... yeah; it took forever. Unfortunately the flash REALLY makes the skirt look alot more sheer than it is in normal wear; didn't find that out till after it's debut. :p
On the dressform:
Pics of me in it:
Close-up side view of headpiece (I love this thing) I took right when I finished it:
2 points if anyone recognizes where the costume is from (hint: it's a movie costume).

You just inspired me to start back working on my costume. Thank you! Oh, is this from Star Wars 3 (the newest one)?

Wow! That's lovely. The headpiece makes me think of Queen Elizabeth. So regal! You are a very talented seamstress.

Heehee, thank you! Well, it took me about 6 months to make. I have a day job so I really only could sew nights and weekend and that is in between the commissions I had for other people. :p I tried to keep track of the hours I spent on this but... it got to be too much and I got to the point where I didn't want to know anymore. lol.

Yay! I *love* it when someone says I've inspired them!
Nope! Not Star Wars! Although I did just make a Princess Leia gown for someone and am in the process of one for myself.

Thank you everyone! :)
Ok, I will end the suspense; the movie the costume is from is Moulin Rouge. ;) MR is my favorite movie and I've made several of Satine's costumes (& plan to have them all one day); here is a link to some photos of the movie costume: The Costumer's Guide to Movie Costumes
While I wish I was as tall and willowy as Miss Nicole Kidman I often explain it as if you put your hand on the top of her head and pushed her down to my height all the extra heigh accumilated in my bust.

I was JUST going to post Moulin Rouge!!! I LOVE that headpiece she wears. I've been trying to find one to add to a fun costume I have (not for belly dance but more for burning man).
NICE WORK!!!!

Can you post how you made the headpiece, what the different bits are and where you got them, etc? I would LOVE to know how you made this!

I just posted some pics; as for where I got everything the wire all came form Home Depot. The beads came from so many places; Fire Mountain Beads, alot of different ebay sellers and quite a few more craft stores. The football shaped beads a | |
