Okay, my PC was being funky...here are a few more savory sweet potato links:

Absolutely Delicious Baked Root Vegetables - Allrecipes

Cooking Debauchery: Savory Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Edited to add: From the looks of all these recipes and a few others I browsed that were really similar it looks like good savory pairing choices with sweet potatoes are thyme, rosemary, onion, garlic, chipotle peppers or other smoky spicy flavored peppers/sauces, curries, steak seasoning (my preference is for Penzey's Chicago Steak Seasoning), basil, lime, and cilantro.

I think I might have to do some experimenting soon! I would think the best way to play around would be to roast individual tin foil packets of sweet potato slices and various herb/spice combinations. That way if a particular combo is NOT to your liking you haven't "ruined" 5 or 6 potatoes, just one (or 1/2 of one).

Ooo! Just think! You could do all kinds of neat experimenting and keep a notebook of what you liked and didn't like and...and....and... *ahem* Sorry! Getting a bit carried away - back to the topic at hand!!!

I'll throw my hat in the ring for the christmas challenge. I hope that will keep me on the straight & narrow

I have been good & since I can't eat chocolate - the Halloween candy at my house is not a problem - it's at work where they have skittles and starburst

My troupe has a photo shoot coming up so I'm staying good & trying to get another 5 to 10 off for that but whats going to happen after that??? YIKES!!! I LOVE PUMPKIN PIE - I am starting to have a decent waistline again & I'm scared to death I'm going eat a pot belly back onto myself.

xoxoxo

OK, I'm in, too. Ive now made it a habit to head to the grocery store every Sunday after class, so I can stock up on nutritious foods.

Actually I did end up stopping eating wheat products (I'm gluten free) and luckily my Chiropracter opened a health food store next to her practice so I can stock up on rice noodles and such. Im actually feeling a lot better and having more energy, but no weight loss, because I haven't been counting calories.

So I'm going back to Fitday to log in my calories.

Good news is that I still work out 5 days a week, and have since June. :) More good news is that I'm at 143 and have maintained a 3 lb weight loss since August (hey Ill take it I was at 146 forevah!) Even more good news is that my chiropractor asked if I lost weight, and I had to roll my size 12 jeans today to keep them from falling off my ass. Er, bad news is my 10s don't fit yet

Getting a personal trainer is an awesome idea for a gift. But I'm not a member of a gym that offers that, wish I were :(

Holy freaking crap!

I went to Macy's and bought:

1. a pair of...wait for it....size 6 pants

and

2. A pair of sexy mid-heel boots that fit my butch calves.

I can't wait to get to the gym tomorrow!!!

Go Sedonia!!! I haven't seen a size 6 since I was 12! And Congrats on the boots too. The pair of knee high boots I have are actually too big (size 9 and I wear a size 8), because it was the only way to get them to fit around my calves.

Babs - Those recipes sound like just what I need. And you've got a great idea with making the little "tester" packets. I love FoodGeeks!!

I went to the gym for an hour and a half today. And then I came home to find sitting right smack in the middle of my kitchen table....an entire apple strudel that my husband had bought! And OF COURSE I had a piece without even waiting to take off my gym clothes.
Like I'm ever going to lose those 10 pounds this way. If I'm going to lose any weight, I need to get a divorce.

Regards
Priscilla

In all fairness, I am NOT a size 6 -- those pants ran huge. However, my size 10 and "medium" clothes are getting pretty loose.

Thanks!
Gwyncara, my hubby made some yummy homefries with sweet potatoes this morning. He uses a non-stick pan and really carmelizes the potatoes and onions. Really delish... And we are also a little overrun with perishables. I was hungry for salad, so in our organic produce delivery this week, we got red leaf lettuce *and* watercress *and* arugula. The salads have been to die for! I'm in a rut as far as salads go: greens, veggies, pomegranate seeds from Trader Joe's, and either crumbled goat cheese or some feta.

I just finished a 6-session package with a personal trainer at my local gym. My goal in November is to establish a workout routine that I can stick to. If it doesn't work, back to the trainer!

I'm not seeing much weight loss from working out, but I'm definitely looking thinner. My students say I'm getting skinny -- but it's all relative. ;-) I'm feeling a lot stronger, which I like.

My weekly weigh-in: 166.5 lbs!! That's 3.1 lbs!! And my Body Fat was finally down below 30% (29.1% actually) Holy cow!! I also set another goal for myself. I want to fit into a pair of Levi's (low rise, boot cut) Size 10 jeans. I tried on a pair the other day and I've got to lose about 2 inches around the waist to make them fit. Otherwise they were a perfect fit. I hate being an apple!!!!

OMG you guys, I got on my scale at home and I weigh....weight for it....138lbs

I finally am under 140! This is crazy because if you look at my desk, there are sitting 4 mini candy wrappers and a ginger ale. Shakes head at the whole weight loss mystery. Last weekend I couldn't even begin to button my 10's. Now I can button em just fine (but still wont wear em cuz I dont like snug jeans)

good work all!

You know, cute tempting clothes are a real incentive once you're on the path (they're frustrating if you're not working at it though...)

I've got a mini-skirt I'm going to hang on my door today to motivate me - I used to love wearing it with tights. I don't think I can even pull it on right now but in 15 pounds I should be able to (that will be my Spring 08 goal).

Sumaya - getting out of a weight range is awesome! buh-bye 140s!

Wow, congratulations gwyncara, Sedonia AND Sumaya! I'm so happy for you. You inspire me, and I need that right now.

I'm trying to remain grateful that my weight has stabilized & I'm not gaining any more, but my diet and exercise habits are still hit & miss at the moment. I know what to do, I've done it before, I'm just having trouble doing it consistently.

Every day seems to be some kind of special 'exception.'

Can you find 5 or 10 minutes a few times a day to fit some exercise in Lauren? That may be the way to go until you can get past all the "exceptions". (Or you could just say "Screw the excuses! I come first!!" )

Wow ladies, y'all are kicking butt!

I filled in for my teacher today in dance class, and HOLY COW!...I know I earned some WW activity points today!

But here's the reason for my post:
I measured today, because I started WW a month ago...in ONE month, I've lost...7 inches total off my body!!!
1 inch off my hips,
2 inches off my waist
1/2 an inch off my Right thigh
1 inch off my Left (I don't get why one is smaller than the other but..oh well.)
and get this...2 1/2 inches from my underbust.

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!! I'm stoked.
