I'm still holding steady but I'm not surprised. I am using all my willpower to resist goodies at work - why oh why do so many people send food gift baskets? :). And can I confess? I bought my secret habibi some candy and I ate it! Now I have to go replace it. Lucky for her I feel so guilty about my sad state of willpower, that I will replace it with something much better!
hah. I'm pathetic around candy once I get started. I went so many months without a single piece and then at Hallowe'en, it was the domino effect. I must get myself back to Jenny Craig weigh ins. I definitely need the accountability.
I still have some time before my birthday to knock off that 5 pounds. Let's just see how much I really want that.
I will definitely give myself pats on the back for just stabilizing and not gaining during the holidays - last year, I gained at least 15 pounds from Hallowe'en to New Years. December of 06 was a total feeding frenzy for me - I resisted nothing.

And I'm BACK on the bandwagon. I actually lost 8 ounces. Finally.
woo hoo! It's all the carrots and hummus.
I'm glad I went to weigh in today, I almost skipped, thinking I'd gained.

Dudes, pounds are flying off me! I think it's because I've started dating and thinking about....you know ... which I hadn't thought about for such a long time.
In fact, I realized that I started gaining weight after my ex and I stopped...you know 40 pounds, in fact.
Apparently it was a classic case of substituting food for sex. Just acknowledging that I have "those feelings" seems to have brought food back into perspective and my appetite is back to normal. I wonder what will happen when I ...
That's just me, of course, and probably doesn't relate to anyone else. But I've only got a pound and a half to go to my Christmas goal! WOO HOO!

Lauren, you are making me blush!
Keep doing whatever, you know, you are doing!
Today was official weigh-in day and I am down a pound from last week which I consider a major victory considering all the T-day stuff I ate. Six lbs to Christmas goal.

So, here is what I want to know. If merely thinking about the dating scene and sex burns calories, how many calories are burned by watching Tarkan videos?
Does married sex burn as many calories as single sex? (I'm thinking not, otherwise I would be alot thinner)
O.K. now I just embarrassed myself. <leaves thread>

Sorry 'bout your thread, Dani. Thank goodness it's almost a new month & time to start a new one. I promise I'll be good on that one!
Meanwhile, congratulations to Angelique, and Yasmin, and everyone else who's doing well!
How's everyone's progress? Are your original Christmas goals still in sight, or is to time to revise?

Re: November Diet Thread - Christmas Challenge IT'S ON!
Um. Wow. Just wow. Is it hot in here or it is just me? Hadn't seen THAT one before!
Now, I hope it does me some good because I just happened to stop in here while feeling miserable after finishing off the half-portion of extra pasta in the serving bowl instead of putting it away. Must...think...hard...about...You Know.
Thanks for the giggles, ladies. I feel more cheerful, at least, if not slimmer.
(Psst, Lauren: Rrrowrrr! Go you! )

I trimmed off a pound since our Nov. 10 show, but have been plateaued for the last couple of weeks, and its not due to holiday eating. I have been eating very well, and exercising almost every day. I also once and for all broke the habit of using the elevator in my work building and now take the stairs to the 4th floor 3-4 times per day. However, I fell off the wagon with my weight training, and I really think this affects my metabolism even on a short time scale. Just adding more eliptical doesn't make up for it. I think lifting stimulates some kind of instant fat burning in me. Thinking back, evertime I am consistently losing weight, I am putting significant effort into lifting, and everytime I am "plateaued" it seems like I am obsessing over logging more cardio time at the expense of lifting. Hmm. There is a pattern here.
Hubby and I bought a *nice* eliptical machine, a set of bowflex dumbells that dial from 5 to 52 lbs, and a basic weight bench and set it all up in our basement. Well, having the eliptical is very convenient and I use it every day, sometimes twice per day, but I have not been using the dumbells. I am used to lifting at the gym and doing certain exercises and having mirrors and lots of equipment. I know you can do everything necessary with dumbells, but for certain movements they are awkward. For example bench pressing. I am used to benching with an olympic barbell, working heavy and I feel comfortable working alone and knowing whether I can complete a rep and rerack the bar.
However, benching with dumbells pretty much requires a partner, because if you can pick up the dumbells and manoever into position on the bench, then the dumbells are really too light, and if I make them heavy enough to be in my training zone, I can't get into position without someone handing them to me. Also I like lat pull downs and rowing machines better than bent over rows with dumbells.
O.K. is that more on topic for ya? Sex was a much more interesting topic, really.

Re: November Diet Thread - Christmas Challenge IT'S ON!
When I walked into the studio for class tonight there was a firepot full of mints and dark chocolate pieces. Gazed longingly at the chocolate and promised myself that I would have one and only one after class. After class I checked the candy and ALL the dark chocolate was gone. Now how did everyone else eat that chocolate during class without being noticed? Came home and ate some turkey and celery instead.
