Tell me about white eyeliner
I know white eye pencil can help make your eyes pop, especially when doing stage make-up, but I have no clue how to use it.
I'm curious--tell me how to apply it!

I use it on the inner eyelid, to rim the eyes. It makes them look bigger. Make sure you use a nice soft pencil so you don't hurt the delicate skin there.

You have to be careful with white eyeliner...if you don't do it correctly you can look like a chav.
Line the inner lower eyelid and also inside the corners of your eyes - but don't apply it super super heavy...just a little dab is enough to make those areas 'pop'.
Resist the temptation to us it on your upper eyelids just above your eyelashes (believe it or not I have seen people on the Jerry Springer show do that!!)

hmmm
Don't know about eyeliner but I did buy a white cream eyeshadow and use it in a semi-narrow band on my lid close to the lash line (not as narrow as eyeliner though) - it really helps open up my eyes. I have deeply set eyes so I need the help.

for stage, you can also use white pencil in between the two sweepy out-to-the-side arabian/egyptian style lines at the outer corner of the eye. when i was performing ballet for a crazy russian method teacher as a young teen, she had us do our makeup like that - it visually extends your eyes so they look huge.

Princess Fahrana does this, and it really makes her eyes look exotic on stage!
Also, if you are going to do the eyeliner on the inner rim of the lower eye, do it before you put mascara on your bottom lashes, that way if any gets hung up on your lower lashes, you can just cover it with mascara.

Thanks, this is great information! I saw someone with it on yesterday--at a kid's birthday party, no less--but this woman looked so cool. She had that vampy Debbie Mazar thing going on.
Not everyone likes that style, but I do!

Chav...wikipedia has a good definition.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav
They show a photo of Vicky Pollard (Little Britain) saying 'This is the stereotype of a chav: tracksuit, bling, hoop earrings and a variation on the
Croydon facelift ..............also ....tracksuit bottoms and white trainers, and the conspicuous mobile phone'

I like to use a little bit of white/silver eye shadow on the lower lid for highlighting.

I have a friend who works in the fashion industry and even though white eyeliner can make your eyes look bigger, she is of the opinion that you need to have big eyes to begin with in order for the white eyeliner to have the right effect on you. She also says the eyes should be round not almond shape. She also says to put it on both lids. This is just one person's opinion, but I tend to respect what she says especially in this field since she is so knowlegable. I would go to a department store near you and stop at a make up counter and have them do a make over of just your eyes and get their opinion and see if you like it/if it looks good on you.

Actually, I wear white eyeliner all the time.. and I must be a "chav" because I wear it above my upper eyelash.
I just put it on lightly, then use my finger to blend it in. Combined with dark brown mascara on both upper and lower lashes, I think it looks quite nice. (I'm a gal who likes a more simplistic look).
If you just put the liner on above the lash it does stand out kind of dorky-looking, but the white liner I have goes on kind of creamy and it blends in nicely.

Adishakti, what brand do you recommend? I think I'm part chav as well. I love the term!

I also wear white eyeliner all the time, on both upper and lower lids. I wear a little black on the outer corners. The white makes my eyes look bigger, and the black makes them look further apart.
If I put too much on, I just wipe it off. No one has ever commented on it. I'm rather fair, and I don't think it's obvious at arm's length.
I think it makes me look a little more finished, without looking overdone. I hope I don't look like a "chav". Frankly, I'm not sure most people realize I'm wearing makeup at all.

Clearly I don't look "made up" because I bought a new shade of lipstick and two people at work said, "Are you wearing make up today?" Dang, I wear make-up EVERY day! However, if they saw me w/o make-up they'd definitely notice.

call me a chav, but I love white (or silvery, or frosty white) liner above my lashes. it really works for me. i have pretty thick lashes, and i load on the mascara so they're as thick as false ones. I think the look really opens up my eyes. and as i slide toward 40, I think the bright looks better than the black on me most days.
i love the silvery white MAC fluidline liner. also LOVE the brand new glittery eye pencils they just got in. i bought on in lavender, but they also had a creamy white one.
you can also use a soft white/frost eye pencil on the inner and outer corner of your eyes. make a smudgy dot, and then tap tap tap gently with a fingertip to blend it in for a nice little pop.

Mine is Revlon Timeliner... (Glossing/lustre)
It goes on quite thick - it probably wouldn't work well for a fine, definite line... but I like it because I can blend it in to soften the outer edge.
