skirt while pregnant

Hi!!

I'm creeping up on my 22 week and i'm really showing now. I have been following the Trumpet skirt threads and plan on making one of them. The problem i'm having is that my skirts are dipping LOW in the front and not so much in the back...i don't want it to look funny on stage (the student show is in early December and i'll be 25wks).

What have other pregnant ladies done for easy costumes? How do I address the front of the skirt?

Thank you!!!

Maybe a circle skirt with an elastic waistband would be easier to fit?

Try making the skirt with a "pregnancy" panel to cover the bump. Just like the soft panels they put in the front of maternity pants. That way the skirt stays fitted but doesn't ride down in the front.

I would just fold the waistband down once or twice in the front and pin it that way. Good luck!

since your question is specifically skirts, this is probably not the look you're going for, but - i performed in an l rose beledi dress at 15 weeks and felt cute and sassy....

you shouldn't have to do anything special to your skirt, other than maybe roll it down a little in front as your belly gets bigger. I wore trumpet skirts right on up to the end.

with a circle skirt, you have to be careful so the hem doesn't hang too low in the front and ride up in the back. what I did was wear dance trunks under the skirt (the kind cheerleaders wear - mine are high waisted), put the skirt/s on and place them where I needed them to stay, and then roll the trunks down over the skirt waistband to keep everything nice and secure.

my advice: choose one costume to be your maternity costume, so you'll only have one to switch back all of the hooks on after you're back down to normal size. ;)

congratulations!

I wasn't dancing much but i did this:

A'Kai Silks double layer silk wrap skirt LONG OOAK - (eBay item 250187540562 end time Dec-13-07 17:40:08 PST)

not the typical bellydance skirt but it does work great as a costume with coin and gypsy sets, and matching veils

do you know what you are having? mine is two months old already, it sure goes by quick

these are wrap style skirts but they can be tied very secure due to the number of holes for straps..they are easily adjustable to a growing belly and then you can wear it when you go back to pre pregnancy size again..
