Anyone have a favorite caftan pattern?

I'm in need of a coverup pretty soon and would like to make a fairly simple one. Anyone have a pattern they like for an easy-fitting caftan?

right now all the pattern companies have lots of tunic patterns that include full length versions. Most are loose with trumpet sleeves. Or you can concoct a simple T-shaped garment by foldign a piece of fabric over and cutting an oval at the fold for your head, turn under edges and decorate with some trim. Then sew cut the T-shape for your arms and stitch the side seams and hem. Looks nice made from silk essence and decorated with some nice trim. Make it in an hour with about 3 yards of fabric or less.

My Mother just made one for me last spring. What I ended up using was a Christmas pattern of all things. the three Kings robe is really nice as a cover up! I used embroidered (sp?) fabric with little gold thread through it and gold frog closers. It is still at my Mom's but I am thinking that it was a Simplicity pattern? Look in the back of the book under costumes.
I like cover ups that open in the front but there are other on the same pattern that are closed.
My mother is 83 and has been sewing since her teens, she said it was the easiest thing she ever made.
I used the one with the long pointed sleeves, very pretty!
Hope this helps!

That's extremely clever. I hadn't thought of looking at those "biblical" patterns. Thanks!

I have used Simplicity 4795. I made it from sari fabric and put a zipper in the front.
