My first photo shoot: the results

A while back I wrote about my first photoshoot. :
http://www.bhuz.com/forum/fitness-be...what-like.html

Now I bring you some of the results. You are probably familiar with the photographer's work because Nam is the one taking most of those stunning shots you see of Eshe:

I like the smiling one in the big red skirt. You can feel the emotion/feelings there. Lovely :-)

Love the veil-toss one. Looks like you're holding up a big flame!

Thanks!

The general plan was coins: Sexy 60's/70's album cover, red: movement and fun

Really, the Akai silk veil is doing most of the work there .

Thank you, but it's not as simple as that. I've seen photos that make even the most beautiful dancer look like a boney-snake with fire-eyes or chubby-miss-pants-don't-fit.

I could not have done it without my stylist and the photographer.

The stylist knew how do make-up for a photo-lights. I have no clue. My lack of clues as to how things would go (combined with dramatic changes in the weather) meant that my face broke out in a light exema rash the night before.

The photographer has a lot of experience shooting dancers. He knew what to go for and how to guide me there.

And there ARE some horrid out-takes. There's one of me looking angry/horrified mid-barrel turn. We'd just started with a new cloth backdrop and it wasn't taped down correctly. When I spun it wrapped itself around my ankles and threatened to take me down.

I can take credit for the coin costume though. I made the base for the coinset (which I bought used on bhuz from... Tahira I think) and adjusted it like crazy until it suited me juuuust so. I made the skirt (no pattern) the week before on my new serger. It was my first time sewing a dance skirt.

They're all really lovely, but I love the first one of you in red. The color is so vibrant, and you look so playful. You must be very happy with these great pix!!!

I am happy.

At first I had mixed feelings. Some I love, some I don't, but I wish I'd gone for more range of movements/emotions. Not surprising, I knew going into it that my first shoot was going to be a learning experience.

I think I did nail the "album-cover sexy-pot" thing with the coins and of that I am proud. I made the costuem going for that looks and it's nice to have that documented. I also think that the danicng red series are very acurate in regards to how happy I think I look when I dance.

Ozma, wow, you look lovely! Very vintage-y. The one with the Akai veil is my favourite.

I get so used to the pix we all post here where we're in parts of our costumes/no make-up etc that I'm always blown away by the super-glammed pix. Us Bhuzzers clean up nicely!

I love the pictures with the red costume, you look radiant! And I cant believe the hugeness of your hair. I know that a lot of work went into your hair, but it looks so natural and big at the same time.

The red smiley looking-down one with moody lighting above is my absolute fave, but I adore the cheeseriffic George Abdo Album Cover look of the first two and I hope to see one photoshopped onto a heinously oversaturated shisha bar-looking background one day. In fact, I think you should make one or both of them into your own "genuine" album cover, title and all. "Casbah Belly Dance Delight of Ozma". Fiddly 60s font, in yellow.

That's the great thing about the white background, I can just plunk a shisha bar or little man on a flying carpet right in there.

Trust me, Zum, I simply haven't had time.
