Very intriguing about the itchy reaction - that was totally happening to me!
I don't like Bare Minerals' primer at all. For a face primer, I would suggest Smashbox Photo Finish. For shadow primer, MAC's Paints and Paint Pots work really well. You can also use your regular concealer or any cream-based shadow, then add the powder shadow on top.

Seconding Toya's recommendation of Photo Finish and the MAC paints. I've had LOTS of fun with the latter especially -- they come in great colors!

Since cream eyeshadows were mentioned, may I ask: what's the best way to use them? I was given a palette (Revlon I think) as a gift and they're gorgeous, and I've been coveting some of the Bobbi Brown ones also, but I feel like I'm going to need to set them with something so they don't wander all over my face. Or is that wrong -- do they just set themselves? I normally use powder or a combination of paint and powder, so creams are new to me. TIA!

Well, Safiyah, your love of Aromaleigh plus touting of of Everyday Minerals, plus other threads with glowing reports on EM, plus Makeup Alley's insanely positive feedback on EM...I got a sample kit.

I wrote about my experiences in this thread:

Creams are good for intensifying shadows, like using them as a base. I tend not to use them too often b/c of the lines they can create, and the fact that they can "creep." So if I used creams, I'd use them as highlighters, near the brow where not a lot of movement (like blinking, etc.) takes place, cheek highlighters, blush, lip colour, or as the eye shadow base, as mentioned...

YES, the MAC Paints are amazing as eyeshadow primers-no lines!

Face Atelier makes a wonderful silicone based foundation that I've used and it's very smooth. I have a resistance to using liquid foundation all the time, though, and am intrigued about the bismuth ingredient causing reactions. That is very good to know.

Dani, thanks for the picture; you do have beautiful skin.

It's good to know what people are recommending to use for everyday versus stage.

i second that! i was surprised at the 'itchies' people got from bare minerals, as i thought it was the same formula as everyday minerals, but clearly it's not.....i LOVE my everyday minerals, the coverage rocks, it's comfy, and i use their 'intensive' along with the 'silk' finishing powder which has nutrients in it........it helps my complexion, doesn't itch, and is ONE THIRD the price of Bare Minerals....

Hey Ruta,
Looks like they are discontinuing the Silk Powders, they announced this past week. But can you tell me what you get out of the finishing powders?

I ask because I am not getting as good coverage from my EM as my Aromaleigh, and I wonder if a finishing powder would help with coverage and lastability (I am going to go ahead and say that is a word ;).
