Glass fringe and nice beading - I have to say I was impressed. I think they look quite classy and well done.

Not bad for $225 - I'm thinking of ordering one.

They look best in the close-ups, check it out:

do the older styles (michelle/peacock motif) hold up well? I've been eyeing that for a while...

With Neckelmanns you either like them or...not...
I've called them my "workhorse" bedlahs because for me they hold up very well. I throw 'em around in my rolly-suitcase to gigs or I just wear 'em around under a coverup, even when driving to a performance; they're very well beaded (secure). For the prices, they're very reasonable and with their varied color-combos, you can get a lot of "mix-n-match" (w/different skirts & accessories) costume mileage out of them. As you can see, I like them a lot! Plus, Daisy's a doll to talk to on the phone (I'm the paranoid cossy-purchases-by-phone-ordering Bhuzzer:)).

I've seen the new ones in person. 2 of the dancers in the Tarik Sultan workshop in Milwaukee over the weekend had them on. They are nice and definitely different from what we are used to out of Necklmanns.

I have one of the older, plastic bead models and love it. Light weight, well made and the most comfortable bra in the world. And it looks fantastic under lights. There is usually an audible gasp when I walk out on stage in it. And most other dancers have no idea what a Neckelmann's is and want to touch it and find out where I got it. May not be from Egypt but they sure are fun to wear!

Wow, I was never a fan of the old plastic ones, but these are quite cute! I'm impressed with how much beading these new ones have for such a bargain price. Thanks for sharing the link. :)

Re: Necklemann's has new designs - and they're nice!

I have a gold bra/belt/necklace set which I bought pre-owned from Hasani.
I have taken it up a notch by removing some of the fringe and adding new, adding swirly appliqees(arrgh how du you spell it)and Swarovski stones. Also made other accesoires to go with it.

It has hold up very well...but do NOT custom order, buy ready sets from Ebay or their site.

Those do look nice...however I think I may be the only one that has had trouble with a neckelmanns costume. I bought a ready made gold set (in fact there is a pic of it in the swapmeet as I am trying to sell it), wore it for my very first performance, and never wore it again as it lost sequins and fringe from the bra and belt just from the one time wearing. Also, the belt closes with velcro, which in my opinion is not very secure. *shrugs* It may just be my luck though

Re: Necklemann's has new designs - and they're nice!

What I did on the belt was to sew very large coat snaps in several locations on the belt so that I could close it securely (it was several inches too large. The big coat snaps are extremely secure. Also I always glue the knots on fringe with everything so did that as a matter of course with the Neckelmann's as well. Haven't lost any fringe. Probably depends on the care the individual who worked on your set took with the process.

Have owner 2 Neckelmann's in the past and both held up really well and were passed along to students. My hubby still thinks I should never have gotten rid of my orange one!

Re: Necklemann's has new designs - and they're nice!

My D was really a D!
But DD:s that are well constructed and flattering are hard to find.
I peeked at what Hasani has right now,she often has D and DD costumes:

Silvery White & Lilac Belly Dance Costume ~ Size D/DD ~ - (eBay item 5619363090 end time Dec-14-07 11:50:48 PST)

Burgundy & Silver

Red & Gold Abla

(btw mdme Abla made great bras for all sizes even if the styles all looked very similar to me.I hope her ateliee will not close)

Re: Necklemann's has new designs - and they're nice!

I've had 2 plastic Neckelmann's, both of which held up great. They are workhorses, like someone said. I use mine for informal gigs, stagettes and such. They are easy to get in and out of and very comfortable. The beading is quite sturdy (in my case, anyway). The only time I ever lost beads was when I snagged one of the big beaded loops on something as I walked by.

I think the new glass ones put the old ones to shame, though. I wonder if they are made with stretchy bras like the plastic ones.
