how to make coins brighter/shinier?

I just bought a whole bunch of coins from thebellydanceshop.com for my new leopard/copper coin costume that I'll be constructing over the holidays

problem is...they're a bit too dark. I don't want them to be copper-penny shiny, but I'd like them to sparkle a little more, as they're going on what will be a cabaret-style costume

any suggestions about how to make these dark coins a little shinier or brighter?
my thoughts were vinegar, nail polish remover, toothpaste, etc...but I have NO clue what they would do to the metal

Are they real copper? There is a cleaner that will clean copper, but if they are are sealed with poly it may create a problem...brasso...yes, thats the name as I recall and it will do copper as well. Try it on one coin and wait a couple of days to see if it creates a problem before attempting the whole lot. I have only antiqued, never brightened.

Rubbing with dry baking soda is the best for real silver ..... but never tried on anything else ..... you could try one coin & see?

There is a product called Tarn-X. The coins will eventually get dark again after time though unless you put some kind of seal on then.
