recs for hand held steamers?

hey all, does anyone have a recommendation for a good hand held steamer for clothing and silk veil? I'd like to stay under the $100 price range but am willing to pay more for a good one. My mom bought a cheapie from walgreens and says it sucks..so I want something good. Will be used for silk veils and costumes (is that safe on lycra?)

just to clarify am looking for a steamer that removes wrinkles..not a cleaner
thx

I like my Shark steamer...works on silk and cotton velveteen...have no idea on lycra. Paid about $75, I think. Get cheesecloth for the steamer head...diffuses the steam...and use ovenmitts...*ouch*

:O)

Re: recs for hand held steamers?

I would recommend any Jiffy Steamer. They have the professional ones, personal ones and travel ones. I own the professional and have used the personal, but never the travel. But, I trust the brand and if you don't like it they will refund you.

As far as steaming lycra it is the heat that breaks down the lycra, that is why it is advised not to put lycra in the dryer. You can steam it and I would prefer steaming over a hot iron, I would just do it sparingly.

Here is the link to Jiffy
Clothes Steamers, Garment Steamers, Fabric Steamers, Travel Steamers

yes, lycra will not like steam.

I think Macy's and better dept. stores carries good steamers.
