Boots for bigger calves redux

fellow bigger calf bhuzzers,

I've scored two pair of sale boots today (oopsie, supposed to be buying gifts... )

They are on sale at Banana Republic - they fit me very comfortably though I've measured my calves and they've lost about a half inch (I think from not dancing). Still - they are on the bigger side - they are 14 5/8 around at the fat part.

The two boots that fit me are (both in black):

and a really cute pair of suede/leather combo boots that isn't shown on their site.

the were both around $80 in store - there's an extra 40% off. One of the pair - I think the one pictured, was only $70.

Also, the shaft is high right at the bottom of the knee.

ooo Ill be on the lookout.

Did you guys know there is a method to putting on boots? I had no idea. You're supped to scrunch the top part of the boot down as far as possible, then zip, scrunch, then zip, scrunch then zip, THEN pull the boot up. (of course wearing nylon trouser socks helps them to slide up.

I had not a clue. So sad.

Re: Boots for bigger calves redux

I have never heard that and I'd want to avoid scrunching my boots because I wouldn't want the leather to get all icky.

But I believe you...I never learn about techniques til everyone else has.

Dr Martens seems to have finally realized some women want boots that are both practical and cute. I bought a pair from them that are knee high, side zip, and lace from mid-way up the back to the top. I get compliments on them all the time, and I can adjust the lacing depending on if I'm wearing them with tights or leggings or thick tall socks. Finding cute boots for my large calves wa amazing!

Re: Boots for bigger calves redux

Thanks for the tip - I've been wanting some lace ups. I'm in a total boot frenzy these days. I love them.

How extraordinary. My calves are larger than that and I've never had trouble getting boots to fit. My legs aren't considered hefty either, not by a long shot. You must be living in the wrong country.

Re: Boots for bigger calves redux

Most likely - it'd be worse in Italy or France probably. All Italian clothes are cut really slim and the boots probably are too!

I've never been able to find boots until this year. That is boots that will go around and cover the wide part of the calf up to under knee. short boots - sure, scrunched down so they don't extend all the way up - yeah....but I, and others from the sound of it, have had a devil of a time finding them to just fit taut and smooth from calf to knee without the zipper biting into the flesh. I think the typical boot shaft circumference tends to be about 14".
