boy shorts
Having seen numerous costumes that either incorporate boy shorts or, in a fair number of cases, seem to have boy shorts added to the ensemble for ah... decorum's sake
Would someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction towards vendors that carry/supply these (what I have now determined to be) very handy little costume accessories.

Re: boy shorts
Go to your local stripper store! Actually, I rely on a lot of the stripper stores to carry great undergarments for dancing. Not butt floss but boy shorts and such. A lot of them are even carrying dresses that could double as great Oriental dance costumes with slight modifications.

if you dont have a local stripper store, you can get them here.
Stringsbyjudith: EXOTIC CLUB AND DANCE WEAR
they are the highest quality i've found. they used to have a policy where they would restitch something if it needed. don't know if they still do.

Re: boy shorts
You could try Discount Dance Supply or Just For Kix online.
Discount dance is also great for shoes!

Re: boy shorts
I get all my boy shorts/dance briefs from River's Edge Dancewear. They've got all kinds of styles, fabrics, colors, and cuts. The prices are really good, too.

Re: boy shorts
I love my gold lame danskin boy shorts! What I love most is how sturdy they are -- those heavy beaded Lycra skirts that won't stay up? You can pin (or tack) them to the shorts, and they stay up without muffin top!!

Re: boy shorts
I don't know about acquisition of the Danskin that Lauren mentions (though I've seen it on her and I live it very much), but the cheerleading vendor than Jenn mentioned seems to have some metallics in shorts - not just gold and silver, but also red and blue metallic! Ooooo! Shiney! OH! Silly me! I just looked at the (official) Danskin site and lo and behold, right there on the site are their metallic boy cut shorts. AND they are on SALE! For $10 (not including the shipping)!!! Also available in silver, red and blue. Guess I'm going to be checking out the shorts on their site for the troupe's newest costume.

Re: boy shorts
Oops, looks like mine are Bal Togs rather than Danskin...
shoot, I can't get the link to work, but if you go to Discount Dance Supply ; Discount Dancewear, dance accessories, discount dance wear, dance clothes, dance apparel, pointe shoes, discount dance apparel, dance wear, dancewear, ballet shoes, dance shoes or to Amazon and search for 'liquid metallic short' you'll find them. They're $15, so the Danskin ones are probably cheaper. I like that they're low on the hip, though, and they seem really sturdy.

whatever you end up with, you may want to avoid anything with a vertical seam up the front. I got some boy shorts like that and they give me major camel toe.

Thanks Lauren! Danskin doesn't ship internationally, and DDS charges over $60 shipping for orders below $50, so I'll try them via Amazon. Just bought a bunch of DVD's yesterday though
Off to some Amazon browsing, gotta make the s/h worth while

Careful -- this is one of those situations where the item is sold *through* amazon, but not *by* amazon, so you can only combine shipping with other items from the same seller. It's confusing, sometimes.
