Re: Feeling Old....

Here is the turkey neck/chin prob I am having. Anyone have any good tips on correcting this? It's like the skin just got too loose and it doesn't fit anymore. Will a firming cream help?

Absolutely correct. In Manchester, it rains all the time. In fact, our seasons seem to be merging into one wet homogeneous splatter fest.

Right, like......that's an angle anyone short of an ant is gonna see? Anyone with their head at this extension is going to have a bit of skin stretched like that! Have you lost a lot of weight? I'd would use a cream specifically designed for your neck. Clarins are very good. (Says me, who never even uses lard to moisturise!) but I have a friend who uses Clarins and she swears by it.

Re: Feeling Old....

lololol..I know nobody will see it from that angle but it is noticeable if you stand in front of me if I am looking up at all. I did lose some weight about 1.5 yrs ago and it was a while after that when I noticed the loose skin. I put back on about 6 pnds though. I thought the weight gain would fill it out some but it hasn't. Maybe I will try the Clarins or more chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream..... ahahahahaha!!!

Re: Feeling Old....

Hmmmm...Virtual Age is really a lot more optimistic than RealAge.com. I'm only 26 there. That's like a 12 year difference in their calculations!!

Re: Feeling Old....

Wasn't going to, but since so many other's did, I just *had* to play along. So I'm 50 with a virtual age of 37 and a life expectancy of 89. I would have thought that my virtual age would have been something like 18 considering how silly I like to be at times.

The life expectancy is close to what I would expect (Mom is 85 and still going-hasn't even retired yet, my maternal grandma lived until 86, my great aunts until 97 and 103, etc.). It was only about 10 years ago that I was in the emergency room with my mom after she fell and broke her wrist (playing tag with my children, of all things), when she whined at me about whether she was ever going to grow up and act her age. Yeah, she asked that of *me*, her daughter that still likes to play "dress up".

Re: Feeling Old....

Yepper..thats Laurens costume. Told her I was gonna do it, did it...and then told her I did it! It was a blast. I already had the James Brown and Hakim CD, so when I saw that costume it was a huge flash in the head...gotta do this for the fusion category for Desert Fire in El Paso. I won...the audience roared with laughter! What fun!!! I won the old broad (Burning Flame) category too in a bhuzers red net dress to an Oum Kalsoum song I cut to include her vocals, and then danced both numbers again that night in the show. The week end before I danced at the Chamizal National Memorial Theater as well. I work a full time job and teach 3 dance classes a week and have 12 troupe members that I direct. Why do I tell you all this, you may well ask? Your energy level has more to do with how you feel about your self than any external thing. Please get checked by a physician and have them do complete blood work on you. In your mid 30's...you should well, feel like I do...and "I feel good, thump thump "so good" "how bout you"? ;-)

Re: Feeling Old....

Apparently I'm 19.9 and I'm going to live to be 94.1 (which is actually about what my grandmother reached, so you never know). Though does that mean if my virtual age is 20 years younger than my real age that I will actually live to be 114.1?

Re: Feeling Old....

Y'know how you look at old pictures (from a time when you thought you were too fat/skinny/old/etc) and you think, "WTF?! I was so cute!"--I try to look at myself with that eye now and try to see the good stuff. It can be a real challenge, because I usually see the bad stuff first.

Re: Feeling Old....

You know, there are facial exercises that you can do to firm the facial muscles and diminish sagging. There are some that specifically target turkey neck.
Many plastic surgeons will tell you that facial exercises are useless, which is understandable. It's not in their best interest to have people excercising rather than having facelifts, but other plastic surgeons and dermatologists recommend them.
Here's a short article with both viewpoints:

AllAboutYou.com: Expert advice on facial excercises - do they work?

I use Deborah Crowley's facial exercise program FlexEffect faithfully, and I also like Carol Maggio's. I do a combination of both programs every night for about 15 minutes while I watch tv. They DO work for me. You can google them both, they have websites.

I just want to add, Many times when I go somewhere with my oldest son who is 30, people think he's my date, or my boyfriend (which infuriates him) and they give me skeptical looks when I tell them he's my son and that I'm 50. I attribute this to a regular daily gym routine, a bit of botox and restylane and alot of facial exercise.

Regards
Priscilla

Re: Feeling Old....

Actual age: 27
Virtual age: 15
Life expectancy: 86

If I am 15, I'm totally gonna try to get away with all the crazy stuff that 15 year olds do! But do I need to worry about getting pulled over while driving to dance class today? :)

Er.......
1. Bleach
2. Slap on the moisture cream and don't use soap( I didn't smoke much at all, didn't sunbathe after a few attempts resulting in red blotches rather than a golden hue!)
3. Don't dress age-appropriate ( what is that anyway!) nor go for the mutton dressed as lamb syndrome.
4.Laugh as much as you can
5.Olive oil
6.Belly dance
