makeup with dark rimmed glasses

I got a wild hair and bought some JLo dark rimmed frames as my new prescription glasses..this is the first pair of glasses that i actually think are cute. in a nerdy cute way. they are square and dark rimmed..anyone have any tips on ways to apply makeup so that there's a bit of color but doesn't look funky under frames?

four eyes

I have dark brown frames and suggest wearing lighter makeup when you wear glasses. I will wear a light eyeshadow shade and dark brown eyeliner. Mascara...that's it!

If I feel like more dramatic makeup, I save it for when I wear contacts (which is most of the time)

I love to do any kind of eye makeup when I wear my "Tina Fey's" from smokey to cat eye! Cat eye + colour wash looks particularly cute.

That being said, since there is so much focus on the eyes, then, I tone down the lips (pale or just lip balm) and cheeks (no cheek colour at all).

High colored, bright pigment is your best friend :D

The more dramatic the better :D

Re: makeup with dark rimmed glasses

Went shopping for glasses a couple of weeks ago, with heavy eye make-up (think black eyeliner - lots of it). I picked out a black one - thinking that if I decide to wear glasses instead of contacts, I want them to stand out It makes me look like a funky weird librarian
Just to say that I like this thread and I'll be watching it very closely

Re: makeup with dark rimmed glasses

Actually, as someone who wore glasses daily for almost 25 years, I'd suggest going pretty light on the eye make-up or using none at all except maybe eyeliner and mascara. For me, the glasses are the focus of the eyes - especially when you have a particularly funky/hot pair. Let those shine! Play up the rest of your face with a pop of color on the cheeks, some highlighter/shimmer on cheekbones and a luscious lip.
