Wow, everything about that Nagwa clip -- music, hair, costumes, eye makeup, even her dance style -- made me think "Star Trek Pleasure Planet."

Here's a Pharaonics that surprised me -- it seems a departure from their "norm" -- maybe it's a trend that all the designers are headed towards --I don't really dislike it, I just wouldn't be comfortable in it:

Your underwear is showing

I don't particularly care for the underwear showing effect. But the costume is pretty. I don't like these costumes that leave nothing to the imagination. I don't mean that in a baring your hoo-hoo way - just an everything revealed in terms of construction way. Seems ungirly like to me but perhaps that's an okay thing. I dunno.

It depends on the outfit, body type and dancer....

Some look good some don't..... As one friend and I discussed, we are short waisted so we wear our belts low low low on the hips to give a little seperation from the upper torso plus it draws less attention to the pudge that would normally be hanging out over the belt if we wore them higher.

Thats why I have the jump test..... to make sure they don't slide down even a fraction of an inch or oooops!!!
Tee Hee - dina did the "jump test" coming on stage a few years ago ...... guess what - yes the bra pinged open !
Thankfully she grabbed "the girls" and flew off to reappear about5 secs later in a different cossie!!!

I agree - why on earth would I want some bad 80's biker shorts look - especially nude ones - to show under an otherwise gorgeous, classic looking costume? If a costume MUST include biker shorts in order to be decent, the the style of the costume should be "sporty" (what ever that would mean) and honestly, if you're going to wear them, and it's obvious to everyone that you're wearing them, then just embrace it and make them colorful, not nude - and maybe even with beading of their own. Nude/flesh colored clothing showing under a skirt is ALWAYS going to make me think I'm looking at something I'm not supposed to see.

I was going to comment on the hair but I see I don't need to!

I loved the yellow costume!

for me, it's not about the amount of skin showing, but how it's being shown.
so i can't stand the boob socks look, or whatever those Sahar costumes are, b/c i think they just look tacky. they're trying too hard.

now, those Nile Group April 2007 costumes... take another look. do you hate them because they show too much skin or because they're just plain ugly?
i'm good with skin, but ugly's just ugly.

i love Spider Woman (and Jillina's Nude Princess might be my all time fav cozzie ever) but i don't like the red "bondage" costume. the problem isn't the "nudity": i think the lines are unflattering, the bra looks uncomfortable, and the reds clash with each other.
on the other hand, i love Virginia's black & white bra which is similar. http://www.bellydance.org/galleries/...1/bdor1_53.jpg

overstuffing a postage-stamp sized bra till it looks like it's hanging on by the nipples. It's like the ladies are advertising produce.

it's a Morticia Addams spider costume. wouldn't you expect it to be a bit "tattered"?
i bet if she had painted her face white and wore black lipstick and put her hair up in a ratty pony tail it would be kewl.

No, then it would become a comedy number!

It is not the idea of tattering that I don't like, I just think it could have been done better (ie without a hole over the groin area) and in a more stylish way.

If I was going to make a jillina/morticia/spider dress it would be more along these lines.

That is actually quite cute... great for that halloween gig - very gothic

If I was 25 yrs younger I would wear it. Mind you I would probably be wanting to stretch the fabric a bit lower over the split, just a tinsy 2 to 3"... that is my own hangup with my thighs - even 25 years ago, something to do with the mothers of the 50s telling daughters to "be modest/cover up". 2nd pic.. well what can I say, I am sure there are those 'brave' enough to wear something like that, me -no.: . You sure are a dab hand at sketching.

Firefly,

Those are hilarious - I'm not sure I want dance with a giant bug on my crotch.
(okay, spiders aren't bugs - but crawly things on the nethers just isn't a good idea.)

That second one was drawn with tongue firmly in cheek
I would also hope you wouldn't dance with flies buzzing round your head!

Such a pretty costume, what a shame about the bike shorts showing! It's like, because they're nude they're obviously not supposed to be a noticeable part of the costume but they are, anyway! I would prefer a pair of attached bikini pants. It's sorta like wearing a regular bra underneath a racerback top ... okay so everyone knows you're wearing underwear 'cos the bra straps are showing, but they take away from the lines of the top itself!
