Sahar Okasha contact information
Hi bhuzzers, Sahar has asked me to distribute her e-mail address to as many dancers as possible. She doesn't speak English, but her husband, Sherif does. If you are interested in any Sahar costumes, e-mail her husband Sherif at:
sherios_ahly@yahoo.com
He responds right away. If you happen to remember the pics from Safticraft's web site, the best way would be to e-mail him the pic of the costume you want and he will give you a price for the costume.
Tell him you got his contact information from me and you'll get a good price!
His e-mail should work, if not, I do have all their phone numbers, but will have to ask him first if I could give those out.
They are great people to do business with. I have ordered 11 costumes from him and Sahar.

Christina,
Are all the costumes on SaftiCraft by Sahar? If not, can you post a few pics of her work b/c I am not familiar. Thank you.

Well it depends on how much you paid for your first one. If you bought a ready-made one from Egypt in person, say at the festival, those only run about $700-$800 and they don't have much crystal work nor do they have accessories. If you custom order one, especially overseas as you are going to do, they will most likely cost more. Some of the Sahar's that Dahlal sold cost about $1,450. I have 11 Sahars and all they range from the least expensive at $1,165 to the most at $1,850. But they are MAGNIFICENT. They are nothing like what she sells "ready made." In fact these costumes are so expensive she can't afford to make them "ready made." Unless you tell me how much your first Sahar cost, I wouldn't be able to tell you if ordering them directly from her will cost more or less. Generally speaking you would think by eliminating the middle man the price would be less, but not necessarily with Sahar. Unlike Amira and Eman and most designers that have fixed prices, you will get charged based on your size (bigger sizes use more fabrics and stones so more money) and if you want accessories, those will cost you extra. Another option is to tell Sherif your budget and he will send you the jpegs from Safti's web sites of the costumes that fit your budget.

The Sahar costumes are no longer on Safti's page as they were pulled a long time ago. Sahar told me that Safti never brought her business so she decided to have them pulled. You cannot order Sahar's through Safti anymore. But there are old threads on bhuz (I'm not sure how to access the old site) where there were threads with the jpegs from Safti's page. I don't have the photos anymore. Sorry. Another thing is to tell Sherif you budget and he will send you the jpegs from Safti's old site with the costumes that will fit your budget. Generally you will not find anything under $1,000. If you go to Egypt at the festival, you will, but those costumes aren't elaborate like the ones she custom makes. No, not all of Safti's costumes are by Sahar. If you go to this site now, he sells Aida Nour, Eman and some non-famous designers.

I don't know what Sahar sells off the rack if you order overseas. I have had every costume costum made. But you can e-mail Sherif and ask him if they have any "ready-made" costume and maybe they can take a picture and if you like it you can purchase that without having to do a custom order. My guess is that most costumes will have to be custom made. She is fast. Each costume takes 2-4 weeks. The shipping takes about 5 days.

He is basically saying that they do not have ready-made costumes. If you want a costume, they will make it from scratch.
Their price ranges from US $300 up to thousands of US dollars, depending on the costume.
He wants you to e-mail him a picture of a costume you like with your color preference and he would be able to give you a quote for that.
If you don't know what costume you want, the best thing to do is to write back and tell him your price range and he will send you jpegs of costumes that are in that price range. I did that one. I told him my budget was $1,000 and he sent me some costumes in that range. Then you can pick a costume and select the color, accessories and size, etc...
Their price range is pretty vast so rather than have him send you random photos, its best to not beat around the bush and just tell him how much you can afford and he will tell you what Sahar will make for that price.
OR, if there is a costume you already know you want, just e-mail him the pic and he will give you the price and you can take it from there. For example, the first costume I ordered was Dina's spider costume. He already knows what that one is, so I didn't need to send him a picture. He gave me a price and I gave him my measurements and he shipped it right away.
I hope that helps. But to get the ball rolling until you are more familar with the designs, go ahead and respond the way I told you.

There are still some Sahar pictures floating around at this site for those in need of inspiration:

Oh, that's good; thanks for posting the shop like an egyptian link. I actually spoke to the person in the USA who runs it-Sylvia in OREGON and unlike Safti craft-she does do business with Sahar. But you don't have to order the Sahar from her, you can pick the picture you like and e-mail it to Sherif as we have been discussing.
