Are you using Safari? Having Problems with BHUZ?

The software for many parts of this site uses a web based Javascript HTML WhatYouSeeIsWhatYouGet editor called tinyMCE. This script enables you to type a message and see what it looks like in real words rather than computer code. TinyMCE is probably the most popular WYSIWYG editor in use today. The issue at hand is that Apple's browser is not entirely compatible with tinyMCE. This is not because of TinyMCE; it is due to well-documented bugs in the Safari browser that Apple has been correcting bit by bit with each new release of Safari. Every other browser in common use is compatible with tinyMCE. On our end, we made the corrections necessary to make tinyMCE as compatible as possible with Safari. There are no further programming changes that we can make that would help you. The issue is entirely on Apple's side. Apple is not devoting resources to fixing this problem.

Here's a thread from cnet, a huge computer support site, Firefox vs Safari - CNET Mac OS Forums where safari users are discussing the same problems you are having, but with other websites. The problem is not BHUZ, it is Safari.

Many Apple (and PC) users prefer Firefox, which is compatible with just about everything and has more functionality than Safari. But, it's like anything else, you have to get comfortable with it and learn its features. It is easy to download and get started. Firefox is free.

Safari is the Mac default browser, but that's all it is, just a default. It's nothing special, and there is no particular reason to be loyal to it.

You can install Firefox on your Mac and use it just for BHUZ; use Safari for everything else. You can have two browsers on your computer.

Here's a postscipt - I couln't resist, so please forgive me. This is a quote from a Yahoo News June 26, 2007 article about the Iphone which discusses how Apple wants developers to use Safari to write apps for the Iphone --
"...many developers seem to hate writing for Safari. As PC World forums member dazeddan said, "As a developer, we have more problems designing around Safari than any other platform. I wish it would just go away."

I use Safari and am having the same issues. I also can't send any private messages.

They are using Macs, Rosey. I'm not sure that there's a Firefox for Mac either.

I couldn't log on using Safari, the page just hung there. So I'm in Netscape. So far so good!

It's not all good for me now. It's actually no different and when I type in bhuz in the address bar, it tells me it cannot find bhuz. If I type in www.bhuz.com--then I can get to the site. I still can't send private messages at all and nothing seems to happen when I send friend requests--althought that could be another issue (I'm annoying!).

You've cleared all your cookies and temp file cache?
And rebooted the computer?
Can you use something other than Safari?
What about Firefox for macs?

I don't get the pesky messages that ssipes was talking about anymore--after I emptied the cache and rebooted my computer, but I still get this message when I try to send a private message:

Please, fill in `Message` field

I have never used firefox and I'm not all that hot about using a new browser since it works with everything else I do on the internet.

Well now that you mention That.

I actually haven't tried to send a private message and I haven't got a response from my 1 friend request either ( I know... so terribly social of me).

You're obviously not nearly as annoying as me, you've already got heaps of friends

Hi Rosey,

I just tried to send a message and when I went to send it told me to fill in the message field. So next time I previewed it first and the message field was empty though the title was still there.

So that still seems to be an issue if you want to add it to the list... problem #101?

Tried to upload a photo to the gallery today and Safari crashed when I hit the "upload" button. Any ideas? The photo is jpeg, 64K.

Fired up Safari again, went to Bhuz then to "manage" photos in my gallery. The photo uploaded successfully. Then when I clicked on "Home", Safair crashed.

So, it looks as if Safari is no where near supported in Bhuz. Any estimates on when (or if) it might be?

later: Just did the same process with another photo and everything worked just fine. Looks like Safari-ness is a bit spotty.

'nuther Safari issue, an fyi for your programmer: On my Mac osx9.3, using safari, adding an event, my event description entry was not recognized. When i hit "submit", it told me to enter an event description, showing a blank box for it. I re-entered the description and hit "submit" - same result. Quit safari, opened IE5.2 and was able to submit the event and edit it with no problem. thanks for keeping track of these things!

I also just realized I can't send private messages. Same thing as jewelsdance and leylalanty.

I am really loathe to switch to a new browser. Safari is *the* mac browser. It would be nice if the site could become Safari friendly.

Yes, for mac users, Safari is it...I love it. I want it to work with Bhuz.
